Milies is connected with the GR-34A (Volos - Promyri) It has traditional stone houses, cobbled roads, good restaurants and accommodation in abundance. Milies is also notable for being the terminus of the narrow gauge (60 cm) Pelion Railway, built between 1895 and 1903 by the Italian engineer, Evaristo de Chirico, father of the famous artist Giorgio de Chirico. This proved to be of considerable economic advantage to the region. The recently railway runs between Ano Lechonia and Milies twice a week at the weekend. The village commands striking views across the Pagasetic Gulf and benefits from the many streams and water sources for which Mt. Pelion is renowned. These result in rich vegetation and cool, forested mountain slopes.

They young Athenian couple who own and operate this sweet, cosy little restaurant have endless creativity, whether reinventing classic Greek cuisine with modern twists or sourcing the best local cheeses, produce and meats. There are daily specials, winter and summer menus, and no death of not only vegetarian but also vegan food. I am not sure that I have ever previously rated a restaurant a 5. This was such a delight that we and our foodie friends returned a second night. Great salads, wonderful roasted vegetables, the best cheese balls ever, and roasted lamb and pork that melted in our mouths. Plus a wonderful apple dessert. Very attentive service and a lovely setting (though no view). Two throughly enjoyable evenings.

On an April Saturday evening this family owned restaurant was empty except one couple in addition to us. We found interesting dishes we didnât see elsewhere and fresh fish the owner (father) said he pull out that morning. Prices were very fair (35 Euros/Kg for the fish, 3.5 Euros for 500ml of house wine). The only downside was that we were the last table at the restaurant and no desert nor coffee was served or offered and the bill was brought to us without asking for it. Otherwise it was a good reasonably priced meal.
