Thetford is a market town and civil parish in the Breckland district of Norfolk, England. It is on the A11 road between Norwich and London, just south of Thetford Forest. After World War II Thetford became an ‘overspill town’ taking people from London, as a result of which its population increased substantially. The civil parish, covering an area of 29.55 km (11.41 sq mi), has a population of 24,340.

8. Sainsburyâs Cafe

A friend and I decided to try the cafe after shopping in Sainsburyâs, it was busy but we queued and were served. We tried to find a table and although about a third were available, they were almost all piled high with previous guests crockery. The âclear your plates hereâ area was completely full and people had resorted to putting trays on the floor and nearby tables. I cannot imagine they had been cleared all day. Our food, jacket potato with tuna and chips to go with a sandwich, took a full 20 minutes, and arrived soon after I got up to find out where it was. I saw other diners also going to check on their meals. The food was completely cold, both jacket potato and chips were just around room temperature and inedible. We thought about complaining but there seemed little point as it would probably be another 20 minutes and by this point we wanted to get out of there. The tables and floor were filthy, really sticky. The napkins were blue paper towels, the cutlery was dirty and stained. The staff looked drained and demoralised. Iâm not sure whatâs happening here but I wouldnât risk eating here again. I have often had snacks in supermarket restaurants but Iâve never experienced anything like this. Come on Sainsburyâs you must be capable of sorting this out.

What a great selection of hot and cold food to satisfy the hunger pangs! I had a full breakfast. Absolutely delighted, hot and yummy, happy staff, good service,great value, better than the others I've tried. I will be back !!!

We are on holiday from Australia and after staying in Norfolk it was convenient to stop off in Thetford on our way back to London. We discovered this quirky diner and we were delighted with it. My husband thought he was in paradise! Black pudding, hash brown and fried bread!!! All his favourites! The decor is really unique. Great servings and friendly service. Love it ! Reasonable prices for fresh tasty food.

This is truly a hidden treasure, very welcoming & friendly ladies, nothing is any trouble, everything is fresh & homemade which is always nice to see especially in such rural settings.We can highly recommend the cooked breakfasts but everything looks that amazing you will be spoilt for choice.

I gave this cafe good reviews last year but sadly this year itâs just average at best now,Itâs family run so Iâve been told by the previous owner and the standards have fallen considerably especially the food coming out of the kitchen, some of the ingredients are over cooked and the portions are small. Also the family are so miserable no hello or thank you just nothing not even a smile. The only happy face was the young lady taking your order and I understand sheâs not part of the family who now runs the cafe Itâs such a shame because I couldnât fault it last year.

Me and my boyfriend had some lunch here, the paniniâs were lovely and there was plenty of choices for filling, however the chips wasnât so good everyone also seemed really friendly, but our order was taken twice because the first waiter Iâm sure didnât understand us. Was still a nice quiet pleasant lunch and would try again.

We sometimes call in en route to looking after our grandchildren in Attleborough. Our visit today was up to standard. My wife had a fish pie that she reported as very good. I had a chicken Caesar salad. They forgot the anchovies but quickly got some when asked. The salad was generous and tasty. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

This venue has so many plus points if only they could raise their standards and find the right local price point.... One can only hope that it changes hands and this possible great venue can match it's right business caring owner and this will become a gold mine....Dear X7332WPsb,Local price point?Like any business (I hope), prices are determined by running costs and what is on offer. We source ALL our food from local farms, the local butcher, and the local baker; we have chefs in the kitchen with all the cooking equipment that is required, not a room full of underpaid youngsters just operating a dozen microwaves.We are very busy daily with local customers (the majority of our trade), and passing customers too.I read through your other reviews on Tripadvisor - I do agree with you about the Roman Baths in Bath, they might as well just knock it down and put a MacDâs there.Thanks for your visit.
