What to do and see in Zagreb, Central Croatia: The Best City Tours

April 17, 2022 Mikaela Didonna

Zagreb got its start as two medieval fortress towns atop hills overlooking the Sava River, and was reborn in the Baroque period as center of business, perfectly located on routes connecting Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea. These days, Zagreb is the heart of contemporary Croatia’s culture, art, sports, and academics, but its history is not forgotten. The unique blend of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, open-air markets, and ancient cathedrals, make Zagreb the perfect city to explore.

Really enjoyed it. Kotor and Budva are beautiful. Picked up from the hotel, the driver/guide was very good and knowledgeable, I forgot his name otherwise I would personally praise him. I would recommend the trip. The price of it I thought was fair. 2 hours in each of the above towns is just enough to have a quick look round and visit a few buildings.

I absolutely enjoyed my 3 private tours I booked this week! Zagreb is beautiful but I needed to see the main attractions! I was here 7 nights so plenty of time to explore. Monday I booked Plitvička jezera it was truly spectacular! If your in Croatia its a must see! Amazing waterfalls and a UNESCO site! Second tour we went to Samobor It’s a cute village with beautiful churches and this amazing cake everyone must try! But you only need a few hours here so half day is perfect! Third tour we had a full day in the istrian Peninsula. We went to pula and than to Rovinj! In between we stopped at a lavender farm and went for an olive oil tasting with included some local cheeses! It’s a very long day so get your rest before hand. I wish I had a few days here But now I know for next time! Dejan is the best guide ever!!! 3 AMAZING TOURS !! Thank so much!!! Guys you MUST BOOK A TOUR WITH THIS COMPANY! They make you feel like family!

Beware--if you hang around Ella you're sure to laugh and love your time! She's spunky, knowledgeable, lively, humorous, and crazy fun. In 2018 and 2019 our study abroad students, my faculty colleague, and I spent multiple weeks with Ella and I cannot say enough good about her! We toured Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Split, Ljubljana Slovenia, and spent an absolutely delightful day trip to the Kumrovec museum. Ella wriggled her way so deep into the students' hearts that they cried when we left her. She is a gifted communicator with a knack for setting her audience at ease and whisking them into adventure. Don't wait--hire her! And prepare to be charmed and enchanted as you experience the hidden nooks and crannies of Croatia through the eyes of a master guide.
