Wymondham (/ˈwɪndəm/ WIN-dəm) is a market town and civil parish in Norfolk, England, 9 ⁄2 miles (15 km) southwest of Norwich, just off the A11 road from Norwich to London which now bypasses the town. The parish includes large rural areas to the north and south of the town itself.

A wonderful place for coffee and cake Annabel makes one of the best coffees around accompanied by her own baked cakes her famous lemon drizzle and gluten free friendly almond are fabulous. This is combined in a wonderful parkland setting with unique individual heated sheds for privacy and peacefulness. It cannot be overlooked.

Classic Team Lotus

An invitation to visit the historic workshops of one of the greatest Formula One teams. Classic Team Lotus is the Works historic motor sport activity in the Lotus group of companies. The race shop is at Hethel in the same building from which Team Lotus operated in the late 60s and 70s. The Team Lotus mechanics that supported Champions such as Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Graham Hill and Jim Clark continue to care for the World Championship winning Lotus F1 cars that won 77 Grand Prix. Classic Team Lotus is pleased to offer the opportunity for a privileged insight of everything that went into creating the Team Lotus Legend. This will include: Welcome by Clive Chapman (when available) Tour of the Classic Team Lotus race shop History and technical significance of cars displayed The Team Lotus archive Film presentation of a slice of Team Lotus history Visitors will be provided with: Photo opportunities with an F1 car Complimentary Classic Team Lotus print presenting all of the Team Lotus single seat racing cars (signed by Clive Chapman, if requested). Wymondham Abbey

Wymondham Abbey is located in the market town of Wymondham and is the town's parish church. As well as being an active church with services every day, the Abbey is also a hub for the community for events such as family activities and concerts. In November 2015 the Abbey Experience opens with improved facilities including accessible toilets, enhanced visitor experience including the display of original artefacts and manuscripts and hands on activities for adults and children to engage in the heritage of this special place. There is lots to see at the Abbey and our Stewards are always on hand to answer questions. The Abbey also has a shop which sells souvenirs, locally made gifts and produce, seasonal products and spiritual books. There are regular events at the Abbey so do visit the Abbey website for further details and to check opening hours.

Wymondham Heritage Museum

Wymondham Heritage Museum tells the story of Wymondham, the daily lives of its inhabitants, the town's heroes and villains and great events from its past. Situated in the Bridewell which, has served as a prison, police station and courthouse, it is full of history that can be enjoyed by all the family. Explore Wymondham's colourful history and learn about its people from Prehistoric times, the Iron Age, the Romans and Saxons to Wymondham's beautiful medieval Abbey. Learn about the Bridewell from its beginning in 1785 as a 'model prison' and see what life would have been like for a prisoner in the recreated dungeon. Follow the story of Robert Kett, leader of Tudor England's most inspiring rebellion. Find out about Wymondham's Great Fire of 1615 and how a new Market Cross was built. Learn about farming and shopping before mechanisation and supermarkets and visit a recreated Wymondham 1930s grocery and general store. Hear the story of Wymondham's brush industry and operate a working brush-making machine. There are also displays on Victorian Wymondham and the two World Wars, DVD films and sound presentations and a variety of things for young visitors to do. Open March to October Mon-Sat 10am - 4pm Run entirely by volunteers who will be pleased to welcome you. No trip to Wymondham is complete without a visit to this remarkable museum.

Wymondham Historic Railway Station

A wonderful, multi award-winning station opened in 1845 and a floral delight, still served by regular mainline trains on the Norwich to Cambridge line. Winner of National Rail Awards 'Small Station of the Year' 2006. Home of the Brief Encounter Restaurant and Coffee Shop famed for it's home-cooked lunches and afternoon teas and voted one of the UK's Top Ten Station Eateries in 2009.

The station at Wymondham is primarily served by Greater Anglia trains running between Norwich and Cambridge and Stansted airport. There are also a few East Midlands Railway service between Norwich and Nottingham. The station building is quite impressive and in keeping with the surroundings. When I visited the Station Bistro was open for people to eat in and also for takeaways. There were no waiting rooms although there are large canopies over the platform to shelter from the rain. It was great to visit this tourist office in such an incredible building. I was able to buy post cards too. N.B there are steep stairs to this historic market cross.
