The city borders two other large cities, Changzhou to the west and Suzhou to the east, and borders Zhejiang Province as well in the south. I went early in the morning on a Friday which meant the streets were still quite empty. The guide was flexible and took me to see a small private garden. Then we took a boat through the main canal and a smaller canals. The smell from the restaurants made my mouth water! The guide was ready to make safe and sensible suggestions on what to eat. I ate a rice cake with pork inside and it was delicious but very filling. Walking through the private residential area was very peaceful.

Very impressive, especially the building, designed by I M Pei. Also the palace adjacent to the museum with historical significance, all in all, enjoyable visit if you are interested in Chinese ancient art and history.

Ava my guide was fantastic. Friendly, informative and funny. I had a bespoke tour after being picked up from the station. I was taken to every site I had requested and given free time to wander the shopping street and museum. I traveled to Nanjing alone and couldn’t have wished for a better companion to take me on my two day tour. Sunny checked in regularly to make sure all was well and the driver had brilliant local knowledge in order to miss the worst of the traffic during the tomb sweeping festival weekend. This was a fantastic day trip with friends. Worth the almost 2 hour trip there! We had a great time exploring the site, went up on the cable car and then walked back down. Beautiful scenery of the lush bamboo trees. Would definitely recommend a visit to get away from the city and out into nature.
