The first stop on our guided tour of Wismar was the Old Town market square. Here, our tour guide pointed out a number of features of historical interest located around the market square. Amongst them was the Alter Schwede, said to be the oldest house in Wismar. We found the unique and unusual exterior architecture of this building to be both appealing and fascinating. The building is certainly a good photographic subject for photographers and individuals with a keen interest in architecture. The old house is currently utilised as a restaurant. A “must-see” building for any tourist visiting Wismar!

small, old looking gate next to the port. Location was used in 1922 in movie "Nosferatu" - great to know !! You can walk around the gate, so actually not a real entry gate as seen in other cities.
