Visitor station was closed on the weekend, no available bathrooms, trail maps not labeled to tell you where you are, no labels to nearest available walking trails, the "walking trail" was heavily undeveloped that has seen little use. I was picking ticks off my legs even after using DEET. Bottom line: don't bother.

Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary

ALL VISITS REQUIRE AN APPOINTMENT. Please contact the sanctuary for scheduling. Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing and caring for non-releasable wolves and wolfdogs, providing them with a stable, loving, and exceptional home, with an abundance of loving and compassionate care. We provide all of our animals with regular, balanced, nutritious meals; exceptional veterinary care; safe and comfortable sources of shelter; frequent enrichment; and, when appropriate, human or canine companionship. We do not buy, sell, or breed any animals. We also support educating the public about issues involving wolves and wolfdogs, and dispelling the many myths that surround these frequently misunderstood animals. Through guided on-site tours, visits from ambassador wolfdogs, off-site presentations, and other outreach avenues, we provide accurate, engaging information about wolves and wolfdogs, conservation issues, and the downsides of exotic pets.

Great facility. Suggested donation is $10, and all proceeds are going to buying new land. No one is tunres away if they cant pay or if they pay a bit less. The guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions. She also had great anecdotes about each and every animal. It was worth the terrifying July Texas heat - plenty of shade. The place was clean and well maintained. The animals are clearly cared for, and that is what matters the most. I will absolutely be going back when the weather is cooler to experience a howl night! Online reservations are a MUST - and it fills up quick so don't wait!

B52 is a great brewery. Wonderful space under the trees. They are in process of building new taproom. Fire pit going during cold months is spectacular. Lots of hazy new release beers with awesome references to old movies. Wheeze the Juice was amazing and so was Pocket Tots ( yes there are tater tots in the brewing process and it is good). Love the food trucks -- there are a variety of different ones. Very kid and dog friendly with games and lots of wide open space.

My husband and I have been to several plays at the Crighton and we always enjoy it. The theatre itself is like stepping back in time. The smaller size makes for a more intimate feel and in my eyes, enhances the overall experience. We're going to see Ricky Skaggs there next month. This will be our first concert at the Crighton and we're truly looking forward to it.

t'weren't nothing special here. The highlight here is the staff. Great bunch of ladies! Lots of clothes (unexpected) and some unique items, but mostly stuff. Didn't hit the snack bar. It looked interesting and it was busy. Didn't expect that either. Nice place to stop and kill some time. So bring a smile and bring money! Have fun!

Huntsville State Park

A popular park great for fishing, boating and horseback riding.

Reviewed By Amanda D

My husband and I like to camp mid-week in Spring and Fall to avoid a crowd. Even with some pretty gloomy weather, Huntsville State Park was slightly hectic for us. It is nice to see a well-loved park. There was a lot of fishing, a lot of jogging, and a fair amount of camping.

The camping sites were a little cramped and close together. Many of the trails were shut down due to Hurricane Harvey but there was plenty of hiking to do. We liked the Prairie Branch Loop which had a rough, rooty walking surface due to the storm but afforded pretty views of Lake Raven.

The staff was polite and helpful as we've come to expect from our Texas state parks. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't rent a canoe as we'd planned. They don't specify on the phone app but you can't do that on weekdays.
