It is an inland and in relative terms upland county having eastward-draining valleys while taking in moors of the Pennines and has a population of 2.2 million. West Yorkshire came into existence as a metropolitan county in 1974 after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972.

Wow what a great find for a nice, dry, easy, flat walk, WOODLESFORD LOCK - walk as far as you want even into Leeds, there are crossing locks so you can come back on other side, ideal for kids on bikes, scooters, benches and pinic areas and only 20 mins from our house. Pity just found it now.

Stank Hall is the oldest house in Leeds, It is a 14thc house, originally in one piece until the beeston mining disaster in the 1830's. Stank Hall Barn is a fifteenth century tithe barn in Beeston, Leeds. It is Grade II* listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The barn is open on selected dates only
