Kemnywood is by far one of the most beautiful and scenic amusement parks around. The grounds are maintained so creatively, the neon lighting on some of the older rides and buildings are nothing less than works of art. The rides, both older and newer are tons of fun, and guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face. The Main Gate just prepares you for the fun and excitement that is just down the hill, and through the tunnel beneath Kennywood Boulevard. The staff is just terrific, very professional, safety minded while operating the many rides, the retail staff in the various shops are eager to help with that perfect Kennywood souvenir, and the food staff gets the hungry guests fed quickly with delicious "Kennywood Cusine", especially the famous Potato Patch fries and gravy! Well worth the drive from anywhere to experience those. Plus, the prices are not outrageously high like at some places, (rhymes with Mosquito Joint), in Ohio, and the stands and surrounding places to eat are very clean, as are the restrooms, parking lot, (YES, not one pile of patrons trash again that is seen at other places that charge a kings ransom to park). Parking is ample AND FREE, and Preferred Parking is a REASONABLE rate of $7.00 for 2018. Rides of all kinds are here as mentioned, some dating well over 50 years, well maintained, and loved by all. The Grand Carousel hand carved by Denzel, is a jewel within the crown of Kennywood. You cannot miss the historic and absolute excitement of the Thunderbolt roller coaster, the Racer, and the Jack Rabbit. Are these rides high, steep, and breakneck fast? Absolutely not, but why do they have lines and have been at this park, and enjoyed by guests locally and from other states for years? Because as Grandma says, "They don't make them like that anymore!" Kennywood also had a GREAT area for kids, and new for 2018, is Thomas the Tank, in where else but Thomasville? Lots of places to bring in your own food to picnic in one of the several free picnic pavilions, and you are permitted to bring in a grill! Now what park allows that? A Pittsburg tradition for over 100 years, and an excellent place for history buffs, thrill seekers, families, and everyone who enjoys a GREAT place to visit. Highly recommended without any reservations. Kennywood is A MUST DO!!
