Breathtaking views when you get to the top. There are lay bys and car parks for you to park in for free to climb to the summit. It is amazing when you're up there. Quite cold and windy on a day in March but I bet its gorgeous in the summer months. There is also a restaurant/cafe up there too.

I recently had the pleasure of driving on the A470, what an amazing road! I was looking forward to it all day and as I approached this epic road the excitement almost got too much. As I turned left from Whitchurch and headed up towards Pontypridd the jubilation finally hit, throws of joys came down on me and I burst into tears, I had finally made it. Everything I had dreamt about was finally beneath me, the tarmac, the straight white lines, the 50 mile an hour speed limit and to top it all off I saw a dead hedgehog in the hard shoulder. Will be returning again next year for a family holiday.

Narrow mostly single track road, but no problem if the conditions are not too bad and you take it steady. Between Abergavenny to Hay on Wye, with places to visit such as Llanthony Abbey and Capel Y Ffin er route. Stunning views when the countryside opens out after you leave the forest. Watch out for sheep!
