Utsunomiya (宇都宮市, Utsunomiya-shi, Japanese: [ɯᵝt͡sɯ̃ᵝno̞mija̠]) is the capital and largest city of Tochigi Prefecture, in the northern Kantō region of Japan. This huge statue is almost hidden among the huge stone hills opposit Oya-ji. As always, the Kannon statue portrays a feeling of calmness and kindness. It's worth taking the short walk across from Oya-ji to see it. Tip: Buy the 1-day Oya Bus Pass to sve some money and for convenience. (See details of this in my other review on Oya History Museum)

This is a good place to see sakura and castle. 500m from here,Mihashi street is nice to walk along and has some shops and cafes.
