Ullapool (/ˈʌləpuːl/; Scottish Gaelic: Ulapul, [ˈuɫ̪apʰuɫ̪]) is a town of around 1,500 inhabitants in Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands. Despite its small size it is the largest settlement for many miles around and an important port and tourist destination. The North Atlantic Drift passes Ullapool, moderating the temperature. A few Cordyline australis or New Zealand cabbage trees are grown in the town and are often mistaken for palms.

We are sorry to impose restrictions but we must keep each other safe. Lael Crafts Gallery shows a wide selection of some of the best local and Scottish arts and crafts. Tweeds and textiles, wood and weaving, prints and paintings, jewellery, ceramics, sea glass and silver, pens and baskets; to name just a few. Serving traditional coffee roasted in the Cairngorms and ground to your order along with tea and hot chocolate, scrummy cakes and bakes. Set in wooded surrounding s we are just 10 miles south of Ullapool, on the A835, two miles north of A835/A832 Braemore Junction. Don't drive by - drop in!

It was lovely to call back here again after many months away and we were very happy to feel safe with the covid controls in place. The cafe area is very small but they have managed the space well for social distancing. We enjoyed tea and cake and browsing around the really lovely crafts on display and for sale - by local Scottish artists and craftspeople. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and always very happy to tell you about the people who have crafted the items on display. I have purchased several items over the years including a beautiful pendant, crafted wood bowls and a woolen shawl. This time I was able to stock up the delicious piccalilli they sell! We look forward to our next visit very much.

Two galleries and a Sculpture garden set on the beautiful peninsular of Rhue, three miles north of Ullapool. The east gallery exhibits landscape paintings by James Hawkins, the west gallery has a changing exhibition program of artists from the UK and Europe.

It’s a must to visit this studio and gallery, whether or not you like the paintings, the serious nature of the well established studio gives a great insight into an artists world. We thoroughly enjoyed this visit, just a shame we didn’t meet the artist himself. I think you normally would. There is also a separate gallery and we viewed a wonderful exhibition of metal animal Sculptures. A great wee hidden gem this place is well worth a visit. A single track road but very easy to get to.

We stumbled upon this little place while taking a walk round Ullapool and decided to have a look inside (ok ok we went in to nosey). This is a nice little place which is set up to help vulnerable adults so please give this place your support. I was told that the place smells lovey but as I was suffering from a cold at the time I cant say for sure but my wife assures me it did. It was quiet when we were in and the lady behind the till asked my son if he would like to see how the candles are made and he was promptly given a guided tour of the workings which he found fascinating (as did my wife and I). If you loves scented candles then this is the place for you although there are other gifts available too ad we managed to get a good percentage of our holiday souvenirs while we were here.

What a fabulous tourist information office. The staff there (two young ladies) were incredibly helpful and patient assisting us with how to book tickets for Urquhart Castle - as we discovered advance bookings are needed during the COVID-19 crisis.

This museum is well worth a visit if you are interested in Scottish History, the 18C particularly and the industries and communities of North West Scotland. It is housed in an original Thomas Telford church, beautifully maintained with original features and the layout, archiving and quality of artefacts and records is superb. The letters from Australia, Canada and the USA from descendants of local people are fascinating as is the story of the migration to Nova Scotia. Well done to the volunteers who maintain and man this fine example of a local museum.
