What to do and see in Tromso, Northern Norway: The Best Multi-day Tours

May 7, 2022 Hana Mouser

The fjords and mountain ranges of Tromso are simply magical. Here, the northern lights sparkle across the same navy blue sky that's illuminated by the midnight sun. You'll be spellbound by Tromso's enchanting fishing villages, fragrant botanical gardens and crystalline waterfalls. Music is a major part of the Tromso culture, particularly techno and electronic music, which adds some thumping thunder to the city once a year during the annual Insomnia Festival.

We saw the lights beginning of Feb 2020, and due to very bad weather conditions around Tromso, we ended up crossing the Finnish border. Bart was a great guide and did his best to make the tour unforgettable. The spot he picked was fantastic (frozen lake!) and we were lucky enough to see a mesmerising Aurora display that night. We also had some delicious soup and hot chocolate by the camp fire to warm up. Couldn't be happier!

This tour was so lovely! Govind was very friendly, knowledgable and great at looking after people in the cold outdoors. The lights came out to play, and it had been very cloudy weather so we were very lucky! He took some great professional pictures of the lights with us and sends them to us the next day. We had plenty of hot chocolate, biscuits and sausages which we cooked ourselves on an open fire. We did have to travel to Finland to get to the lights, but for me that added to the experience of being in a rural area and also shows that Govind really wanted to find the best spot for us. Recommend highly to book with Green Fox.

Unfortunately, after a sunny day, the clouds came before departure. So no sunset. We did get the choice to get our money back, or get a trip around Tromsø. Everyone chose the last option. For me it was worth it. Amazing on this boat with speed and "playing" with the waves. Watching eagles and heron in "daylight" at night. The guide was really nice and knew a lot.
