The Needles Battery

Reviewed By Lorettatata - Bristol, United Kingdom

Walked up from the car park near the amusements area in thick mist, rewarded with amazing calm sea and blue sky a great vantage point with views of the needles landmark by the time we arrived at The Battery, as the sun had burned off the mist. The military history of the battery is well presented and made it an interesting if not too long visit. Tea room charming in 1940s period style. Loved it. We received 20% off car park for NT members.

The Needles Landmark Attraction

Reviewed By SallyBrownsb76 - Bexley, United Kingdom

Every time we come to the Isle of Wight we go back to the Needles, and we always have a lovely day. It costs £6 for a car to park in the main car park which is well organised. The site has the famous 2 person cable car £6 return, that takes you down to the beach. The first time you ride the cable car you might take a few deep breaths as you reach the top but there are beautiful views from there. The beach at the bottom is small and peebly, not somewhere you’d spend the whole day (the toilet or places to eat at the bottom) but if you’re feeling brave have a swim in the beautiful cold clear water. They have boat rides fast/slow to meet all tastes and you queue and pay. We tried the rib, which was lots of fun. Back up at the top of the cable car there are a few tourist shops, several different places to eat, the famous sweet making factors, make your own iow sand shop, alum bay glass making and shop plus a mini crazy golf and a few rides for little children. So many lovely memories can be made here and we always visit again and again, something always draws us back.
