All Saints’ Tudeley is the only church in the world* to have all its twelve windows decorated by the great Russian artist Marc Chagall. The east window at Tudeley is a memorial tribute to Sarah d'Avigdor-Goldsmid who died aged just 21 in a sailing accident off Rye. Sarah was the daughter of Sir Henry and Lady d'Avigdor-Goldsmid; the family then lived at the fine Jacobean house Somerhill which is situated nearby.
Very nice excuse to leave London for a day. Beautiful windows, great scenery around. We enjoyed walking along surrounding footpaths all the way back to Tonbridge. We enjoyed it greatly!

A very interesting church, with lots of history - try to get there when Peter is giving a tour - this church dates back to the Saxon and the Normans....but this church is current and active and alive - great ambiance and spiritual presence in this beautiful building!

The War Memorial Gardens are situated by the River Medway. There are a number of panels with the names of the fallen. At one end of the gardens is a sculpture of a poppy. A tranquil location to spend a bit of time in quiet contemplation.

Reputedly England's finest example of a Motte and Bailey Castle with a splendid 13th Century Gatehouse. A Tonbridge Castle Gatehouse Tour includes an interactive recreation of Medieval life, featuring an audio-visual presentation, a chance to explore the basement and armoury and views from the battlements
Wow what a fine! We were on holiday in Kent and decided to visit this castle as we were staying in Tonbridge. The castle is breathtakingly beautiful as are the gardens that surround it. It is easy to book via telephone. Card only payments are taken on arrival. The ladies who work in the tourist information office are really friendy and helpful. The audio tour takes about an hour and is really interesting. Lot of things to look at and the audio guide is very informative. Easy to find ( just off the High Street in Tonbridge) and easy and cheap to park right by the castle. After the tour, you can enjoy the gardens or take a walk along the river right next to the castle. All very enjoyable in the wonderful hot weather we experienced when we were on holiday.
