Probably the most important temple to worship Sani baghwan. Even though the place was not very crowded we bought special entrance tickets for Rs. 50 each and were in and out in a jiffy.

This temple is believed to be the abode of the Lord Guru. According to legend, Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison Alavisham in this place and hence the name Aalangudi.
In this temple the deity faces the South direction as he is the Lord of Dhanusu and Meena Rasi. Thursday is considered to be the most auspicious day here and there special offerings to the Lord on this day. Guru Payirchi, Chitra Pournami, Tai Poosam and Panguni Utharam are the major festivals celebrated here.

Impressive building with rooms full of murals & artworks of varying quality and styles. Stone carvings, metal statues are in the palace and there is a requirement for a camera fee as well as entry fee

Recently, I have visited Thiruvalanchuzhi Swetha Vinayakar / Vellai Vinayakar temple along with my parents & Abi sister (Myladuthurai).
The temple is situated 1 km away from Swamimalai Murugan temple, and is famous for Vellai Vinayagar. This Vinayakar is also called as 'Norai Pillayar', as he is made out of froth from the ocean. The Presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of 'Sadaimudinathar' and his wife Periya nayaki.
The temple also belongs to 275 Paadal petra stalams, we have offered our prayers and had a good dharshan at the temple.

Located in Thanjavur city of the Tamil Nadu state, Peruvudaiyar Kovil is one of the most popular temples in South India. Popularly known as as Brihadeeswarar Temple, Rajarajeswaram and RajaRajeshwara Temple, this popular Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Erected by Raja Raja Chola I, this temple is a wonderful example of Tamil architecture. One of the largest and greatest architectures in Indian history.
One of the country’s most prized possession, it stands safe amidst strong walls that were probably added in the 16th century. One of the temple’s tower, 66 m high, known as Vimana, is one of the world’s tallest towers. It is believed that the top part of the temple, called Kumbam, Chikharam or Kalasha, is made out of single stone carving.
Another single rock carving is the Nandi bull statue at the temple’s entrance. This sacred bull temples is 13 feet high and 6 feet long. The temple structure is made from granite. Commissioned by Raja Raja Chola I in 1010 AD, this temple is fondly called the ‘Big Temple’ and turned 1000 years old in the year 2010.
