Red Earth Riding School

Reviewed By rp1311

Red Earth Riding School is located in a perfect little nook near Auroville, and has the most welcoming atmosphere. After learning to ride at different schools across South India over several years, I can say that this is by far the most wholesome experience that I have had. From learning exactly how the horse thinks and responds to you, to the importance of groundwork (something I only learned at RERS), and washing the horses -- Red Earth delivers the most uplifting riding experience. The team at Red Earth are very encouraging and personable, and understand first that they are working with people and animals and that the school is not a business. It is very refreshing to be around staff that are so patient and always happy to help and explain something to you. They offer several areas of coaching and training, from dressage and jumping, to groundwork and leadership programmes, and anyone can try any thing! Red Earth also provides accommodation for those who just want a quiet getaway in nature around animals -- it is home to highly rated The Black Box home (check Airbnb) that houses several guests and offers a bunch of fun activities, including surfing and barbecue nights! Jacqueline's troop of dogs are great fun to be around and provide lots of love and laughs to the horses and the school! In my opinion, it is the best place to learn to ride and get oneself some essential animal therapy.

One of the best drives we have been on.. We did not expect much from the small hill station but this beautiful route is just out of the world. The road intertwining through the Shevaroy Hills is lined on both sides with the Silver Oak and white Eucalyptus trees eclipsing the warm sun keep the breeze cool. The distinct view here is that these trees are covered with pepper climbers that make the ambience of these forests very surreal. As we drove around on the winding road, there were many spots where we just could not stop ourselves from taking a break and engulf in the serene environment. The road runs through large coffee plantations making the entire region embrace a lush dark green demeanor unike light green tea plantations.

As the name indicates, there is a big sangu(SHELL) located near the shore. The beach looks clean and less crowded with less shops. Sanguthurai Beach is one of the calmest yet cleanest beaches that you should go to, during your visit to Kanyakumari. Sanguthurai Beach is located in the southernmost part of India, and you can feel the fierce power of the Indian Ocean there. However, Sanguthurai Beach is a pretty tranquil place with white sand beaches that sets a perfect background to the coastlineYou can also see Vivekananda Rock Memorial from here in the coastline of Sanguthurai Beach. If vigilant enough, you can also spot a white pillar protruding from the sea at Sanguthurai Beach. In addition to all these attractions, its lukewarm water is perfect for swimming.

Fundera Park

Fundera Park is a place where your complete family can enjoy your holidays with a new experience. We have more than 300 exotic non indian birds and none of them are caged and you can enter into their aviary. Also we have a petting farm, where your children can have hands on experience. We have the first 7D Cinema in Yelagiri and a recently introduced VR center and horror house as well. Attention: For all of you visiting us, do look out for our above logo with "Fundera". Kindly, don't get misled by a neighbouring park under the name Fundara with a similar logo. We are two separate entities and we cannot claim any responsibilities for any events/happenings there. If you are going with a family with kids, this place is a must visit. Kids thoroughly enjoyed here. You can easily spend 1-2 hours in this. This park has all the farm animals - rabbits, guinea pigs, pony horse, goats, cows, different species of hens and roosters from different parts of the world, colorful chickens, and different kinds of parrots. Fees: Entrance fees per adult is 300/-. I guess if the kid's age is 6 or below, the entrance is free. We too felt the price is little on the higher side, but it was totally worth it. In this 300, you get to see the entire farm animals park + any one of the following: 7D cinema, fish spa, paint ball and few more things. We chose fish spa for ourselves, and we took our kids to 7D cinema. You can chose an activity separately by paying 100/-. Both the experiences were good. Kids below below 3 years are not allowed in 7D cinema. Farm Animals: We visited the place at morning 8.30 (opening time) itself. The animals were being moved in cages to their respective compartments. The kids were very excited to see them. The staffs over there, were very courteous and allowed us to touch the animals. Parrots: This is the main place where your kids can enjoy a lot. At the entrance of parrot cage, you will be given handful of sunflower seeds. You need to feed them (not all at a time) to the parrots there. Don't miss to feed the bird 'funky'. He is the biggest in the cage who scares other parrots. Cafeteria: Make sure you take something to eat for your kids. There is no restriction on taking the food items inside. But you are not allowed to feed them to the animals. We ordered noodles for our kids at the rate of 50/- per plate. We felt that was costly for a plate of noodles. Overall experience: This is a must place to visit once when you are in Yelagiri. Anyway, you don't have many places to visit in Yelagiri other than this, boating and couple of trekking and temple places. So, make sure this is on your list to visit first in the morning. Caution: There is another park with almost the same name 'fundora park' at the entrance of this park. Make sure you don't fall prey into that dirty trick.
