What a beautiful park to take a walk in. It's only a short drive after crossing the Canadian border from the U.S. and was a great place to stretch our legs after long drive. We were here in late September and some of the trees were turning into their fall colors. It's such a healing place to take a walk among the tall giant trees. Reading the history was really interesting. What a great gift to get on your 21st birthday - Such a beautiful parcel of forest and land. Lots of trails - we didn't have time to take all of them and wished we could have found the one with the bird houses. We will back on future visit to find them.

You can either walk along the path that fronts the beach perhaps getting some fish and chips or an ice cream along the way. If you have a dog there is an off leash area here as well as a place to park the car. When the weather is warmer you will see children playing in the sand or in the water, there is a lifeguard in the Summer.

I recently went for a walk in the park with my wife for the first time. We did one of the gravel trails on the west side of the park. It was very nice and the gravel was no problem. Some prefer it as it is not as harsh on joints as pavement. I was surprised at some of the old growth stumps. Some were at least 6 - 8 feet across. A few days later we did part of the east side on the paved side. The pavement on the paved side is at least 10 feet wide so bicycles are allowed.
It is definitely a nature park. If you are expecting Stanley park, you will be disappointed. I believe there is a fish hatchery but we haven't checked that out yet.

The big, big forest park in Surrey. Take a walk round the lake, maybe sit awhile and enjoy an hour or two of relaxation. Or make an expedition of it and follow the trails (not much chance to go 'off trail') through the woods, have a picnic in the meadow.
Surrey is blessed with many parks and green spaces, this is the biggest. Some of the signs could do with repair, some of the visitors could control their dogs better and keep them out of the lake, some of the fishermen could remove their lines from the trees and bushes, but we'll go again.

If you happen to be crossing the border into the United States or into Canada this is certainly a must-see. However to see the Peace Arch up close and have a chance to walk up to it and not just seeing it from your car, you will need to park at the Peace Arch Provincial Park in Canada or the Peace Arch State Park in the United States and then you can walk over to it. You can certainly feel the history of it when you're up close next to the Peace Arch and I found it amusing to walk through it knowing that I was crossing between the two countries. If your history fan like I am this is certainly worth your time.

My wife volunteers here and showed me around. The history is fascinating and an important part of the South Surrey and Canadian heritage. The nearest town for the Stewarts was New Westminster and it took them a day to get there - 20 Minutes by car today!

We took the Ferry over to Barnston Island. Watching the little tug boat pull the barge across the rushing Fraser River was a neat experience. When we arrived on the island, the sound of birds singing filled the air. You could no longer hear the traffic on the other side or the loud industrial machinery. It was like stepping into another world far away. Beautiful hidden gem.

Myself and boyfriend decided to come here wanting to know more about the area we were staying in and the Surrey Museum was really awesome! It is smaller however it is filled with rich history and information about Surrey and Canada. We loved the exhibits, plus they have a child friendly area that is really cool to check out even for adults! Admission was free, however we donated a small amount (no pressure from museum staff either!) because we would love for this place to be there always. Everyone was friendly and it was pretty quiet as we went on a week day so not many people but if you have time while in Surrey and want something to do come check out this Museum with or with out children , you'll have fun.
