For an historian like me this castle ruin and it's rebuild keep (concrete btw) is gefundenes fressen...obviously I'm interested.
But for non-historians this is worth a visit. There's a cool breeze and shadow with nice view on Sumoto and surroundings. Nice point to snap pictures of the birds of prey that swoop over Sumoto.
Although it seems to be but a minor tourist spot (no entrance fee) grounds are well kept with the obligatory vending machines, small snack but also a nice clean modern toilet complex...
Access to the keep could be tad difficult for people having trouble walking and wheelchairs are out of luck due to the old castle walls and stairs

ウェルネスパーク五色とも云う公園で、園内には日露民間外交の先駆者、高田屋嘉兵衛とゴローニンの友好の像もありましたが・・・民間ベースではこのように穏やかに交流出来ていたのに・・・大戦終末時点のロシアの行動は火事場泥棒そのものでしたね。以降も不法占拠した領土も勝者の倫理で正当化したままだし・・・私は好きになれない国の世界でのワースト５に入る国なので・・・こんなのには何の感慨も興味も持ちません。この公園内には高田屋嘉兵衛の屋敷跡の巨大な記念碑もありました。現在の高田屋さんは単なるお菓子屋さん、餅屋さんですが・・。それにしても・・・何でも、どこでも有料なんですねぇ・・顕彰館も有料でした・・高田屋だから「高い」のは仕方ないんかな？

our hosts took us to this island and took us to the monkey centre. It was really great experience as they monkeys are pretty chilled and they can only be fed from inside the cage.

洲本高速バスセンターの一角に案内カウンターがありました。流石に淡路島の中心地だけあって案内係が常時在席していました。カウンターの上には最も目立つ場所に洲本市内と淡路島全体の地図が置いてあり、道案内が最も多いものと想像されました。

鳥居から境内を見ると立派な拝殿が正面に見受けられました。境内には、洲本八狸のひとつ"武左衛門"のユーモラスな石像が立っていました。又、拝殿右手には干支の大きな絵馬が目立つようになっていました。

麓の洲本温泉の旅館から徒歩で１５分ほど歩くと山頂の城跡に着きました。天守風の小さな展望台があるだけと聞いていたので、あまり期待はしていなかったのですが、かなりの規模の大石垣が残る城跡で想像以上に感動しました。山道も舗装されていますし、城跡もきれいに整備されていて山頂からの眺めも良かったです。

The centre informs about local history, events and customs through short film and exhibits on three floors. Admission is 400 Yen for adults. Although there are no English explanations, you will enjoy the artifacts.
