Beamish Museum

Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - our objects aren't locked away in glass cases, this is hands-on history! Step into the past and explore our 350 acre site, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Taste traditional food from a coal-fired range, hop on board a tram or steam train, play schoolyard games together and pop into the Co-op shops. Come back time and time again with your Beamish Unlimited Pass, which allows 12 months free entry to the museum from your visit - including all day time special events!

Fantastic day out for all the family and all ages, see how the north of England use to be from a ride on the tram , to a life on the farm to a bun from the bakery, so much history to absorb, the staff are all very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions you might have , there is a lovely tea room but the chippy is well worth a try !

Beamish Park Golf Club

Reviewed By ianbeacs

A golf club is not everybody's first choice when deciding where to go for Sunday lunch. Today I tried Beamish Park Golf Club with my wife and elderly Father and I please to say, Im glad I did. The dining room is large with a fantastic view overlooking the course. The staff were very friendly and helpful with nothing being a problem for them. My Father was in a wheel chair which wasn't a problem at all. Now the food which is a carvery. There was a choice of hot roasts with as much gravy as you wanted and a great selection of vegetables, all served with a very large Yorkshire pudding. We all went for the beef which was very succulent, had no fatty bits and plentiful, all the veg was cooked just right. The bill came to £27, including our drinks which I felt was outstanding value. Would I go again, that's a big YES.

I have walked the Waskerley Way and various other parts of the Way a few times now. The views have always been stunning. The history of the area is very interesting and there is always something to add on any journey. Today I was sharing the Way with some friends. If you are interested in experiencing this walk then you can find full details on my blog.

Great soft play area, large, clean and uses up lots of energy! Good safe areas for under 3’s and under 5’s. Big enclosed netted area for kicking or throwing footballs. We had lunch- baked potatoes with tuna and side salad and one of the grandchildren had chicken nuggets, and chips and the other had pizza, never finished it but got the remaining pieces wrapped up to take away. Staff friendly. Would recommend this place and would return again when visiting the grandchildren.
