This is effectively the ex river bed now extensive and delightful park area which has been shaped and honed so that it has something for everyone in terms of sports facilities, water features, floral displays, natural tree shade, walking / cycling paths/routes etc. You can stroll around any part of this city park and enjoy it and/or just sit a while and read a book. Colourful and cared for it never disappoints and is well worth a visit !!

I spent the afternoon out here at the lakes of Albufera and had a really good time as the sunset over the water. I found some funky bars by the water after the sun had set and ended up having the best night with some locals. The walks about the lakes are great for nature lovers and just for a bit of peace and quiet also.

Lake Banyoles

At the end of August this year my family and I spent a week in this absolutely beautiful place, it was inland in the Catalona area, it was totally unspoilt with tree lined avenues surrounding the massive lake, and lovely restaurants, it was so relaxing, we swam in the lake and went on the boats, it was like going back in time as everywhere you went it was so calm, and the people were lovely, so welcoming, we plan to go back next year.

The scenery of this part of the Picos de Europa is magnificent. The 1,5 hr walk along the two lakes is breathtaking. The organisation of the busses that bring you to the lakes in the high season is good, so there was a bit of a wait to go back. Do it if you are in the area.

Las Charcas Mud Baths

Small lakes with very warm water, and deck and step access provided. People bathe in these pools and smear the mud from the bottom over their bodies. The mud is reportedly excellent for damaged skin and for arthritic pain.

This is the place I come to whenever I need to unwind, relax and recharge. The clay is absolutely AMAZING, who cares if it smells a bit. I have been coming here for 20 odd yrs and love going for walks in the unspoilt nature. Taking a walk to the Med beach which is never busy. Not a bar/ kiosk in sight and all you can hear are waves breaking. Many migrating birds fly over as well so plenty of different birds you don't normally see can be seen. Great for practising triathlon. It's pretty quiet in the evenings so it's a great place for families w young children. The therapeutic clay is beneficial for EVERYONE. It's contains many minerals/trace elements which when applied, is absorbed and makes miracles to skin, joints and gets rid of cellulite! Arthritis, reumatism, gout, acne, the list is endless to conditions the clay benefits. The clay is the main reason for me returning at least once/year. I love it. Come and try and see for yourself. GRATIS ????..

El Charco de San Gines

An excellent spot to sit in one of the many little bars and restaurants listening to the spanish music and watching the boats floating on the water. Try and catch it when the sun is low in the sky and the golden ripples are almost hypnotic (when you've had a beer or three). Lovely place to sit and relax.
