I absolutely love Otters and had always wanted to experience petting or feeding an otter up close and this was the perfect experience. There was two otters in the room when we arrived and they were playing with their toys, running around and occasionally stopping for snacks or a drink. We got to pet the otters, watch them play and take turns feeding them or holding their water bottle. Several more people arrived but this didn’t distract from our experience. The other otters were in a room where we could view them but they were given time away from being petted or held and another otter was swimming in the tank. They swapped around at some point in the hour. Towards the end of the hour the otters slept which seemed to be part of their routine so we just took a few pictures of them sleeping which was very cute! I was a little concerned about visiting such a pet cafe as they are not the norm in the UK (apart from a few cat cafes) but the otters were clearly very well cared for and loved the attention that they got from playing with the visitors. They are given time away from the visitors and have plenty of space and a stimulating environment to live in. I would definitely return if visiting Kyoto again as it was a wonderful experience!

You will enjoy yourself with the rare species of cats and clean environment of the cafe. 3 minutes on foot from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station! I've been to a lot of cat cafes in Japan, mainly in Tokyo, and a few in the US as well. I would count this among the better ones in terms of cat happiness and care, and humans are treated well too. The prices are on the high side, but beverages are included. You can purchase cat treats for a bit extra. Some cat cafes have a lot of dozers. If you're not feeding them, they're probably sleeping. I was pleasantly surprised that just about everyone here was playful.

I agree with the other reviews that it was an extremely nice experience. The hedgehogs were really cute and mostly sleepy. My son loved holding his and watching it sleep. You pay for the amount of time you wanted to play with them. It wasn’t pricey given the opportunity to meet hedgehogs which are not available where I am from. They choose a suitable hedgehog (sleepy/shy/playful) to fit the age. They allocate one hedgehog between two kids. Such cute animals. However, it is also simply because they were so cute and well behaved that it was extremely hard to say good bye and walk away. An unique experience for us and we are very glad to have done it.
