We spent a delightful morning with Mayuko learning to make bento boxes with panda rice balls. Mayuko is extremely friendly and positive, and a great teacher - we learned some cool techniques which we've since incorporated into our own cooking since returning to our home country, and my wife went out shopping straight after the class to get equipment to make bento boxes of our own. We did a few different activities and classes while we were in Japan for a month and this was easily the most fun we had. I heartily recommend this class to anyone who wants to have a fun morning with a great host and learn some cool things about Japanese cuisine.

Emi was so delightful as we chatted and started to prepare the foods ! I made pork gyozas with green bean Goma-æ with was something I had never heard of mmmmm ! Delicious sesame dressed cold vegetable dish ! The pork gyozas were tricky but with Emi help I got the hang of it ! I was so soothing folding and sealing the gyozas ! As my daughter is vegan Emi helped me rustle up a delicious vegan potato, cabbage and Chinese chive gyozas for her to enjoy ! Thank you so much Emi for my cooking lesson for my 50 th birthday it was an amazing treat !

JJ Kitchen in Tokyo

JJ Kitchen provides authentic Japanese home cooking classes at a private kitchen located in the heart of Tokyo. All classes emphasize hands-on involvement in small groups. You will enjoy the laid back feeling as if you are preparing a home party together with us! Most of our recipes require no special ingredients nor unusual equipment. We try our best to provide recipes that use ingredients that can be found at ordinary supermarkets overseas. The menus in the classes reflect authentic Japanese home cooking, which I learned from my mother and my grandmother. We eat a lot of healthy meals using a variety of seasonal ingredients in Japan. We love to share the healthy dishes we cook daily. There are so many Japanese dishes and cultures that are not well known outside of Japan and we are happy to introduce them to you! The happy smiles of our guests are the biggest treat for us. We will welcome you to our kitchen with all our hearts :)

Simply amazing. Yuka is a great teacher, me and my gf took the sushi and miso soup class and it turned out to be the greatest experience during our trip to Tokyo. Don't worry if you're not a professional because Yuka will follow you step by step and explain everything that you need to know, for example I wanted to buy a Japanese chef knife and she told me everything I needed to know about it. The sushi and the other things we tried were really good and when we'll come back to Tokyo we are definitely booking another class with her!

I had a most enjoyable afternoon cooking with Kaorisan and her attentive helpers! We made lovely chicken teriyaki and maki rolls. The ingredients were of excellent quality and Kaorisans explanations were easy to follow. The handouts provided were very useful. We finished the class by eating all the lovely food. I would definitely recommend the class and would like to take more classes in the future!
