Shaldon Cliffs Pitch and Putt

Great afternoon playing this super pitch & putt course, with super views. Some very tricky holes, greens were okay, maybe 5/10 compared to Golf Clubs. Great Value for money.

Shaldon Wildlife Trust

The small zoo making a big difference! Set in an acre of woodland garden above the attractive coastal village of Shaldon, we look after, and help preserve, some of the rarest and most endangered animals in the world.

This zoo is an absolutely amazing little find! Visiting from Manchester so was trying to find things to fill our days and this was sooooo good! All animals you can see up close and lots on information! Staff always there to answer questions and even shown us videos on phone of the baby twins born that were inside eating! Lady in gift shop was more than happy to point out the nocturnal animals with her red light and answered any questions. Zoo is only small but it’s a lovely walk round and couldn’t fault it!

We visited The Shipwrights a few times during our recent visit to Shaldon. We always found the staff and landlord/lady very welcoming and helpful. They have a fab selection of drinks, including various Gins and Rums and a beautiful farm shop selling local organic vegetables and a fab array of seafood. One night we bought a lobster from the shop, which was really good value and tasted delicious! One night we ate in the restaurant with our two young boys. The scallops was lovely, and for the mains I had their Dover Sole in butter sauce. Beautiful! My husband had the fish and chips which was excellent and the two boys really enjoyed their dinners. All the food is really well priced. We will definitely be visiting when we are back in October. Fab little place. See you soon!

South West Coast Path - Labrador Bay

This high-level 3.1 mile walk on the South West Coast Path has a lot of ascent and descent, some of which is steep and can be slippery, but the stunning coastal views in all directions make it worth the effort. Starting at the Ness headland, planted to mark Queen Victoria's coronation, it loops through the RSPB Nature Reserve at Labrador Bay. Look out for the rare cirl bunting or a shy roe deer.

Ness Cove

Reviewed By cherriesfan_9 - Cheltenham, United Kingdom

Descending down the well lit steps into the Smugglers Tunnel is fun, and arriving onto the beach at Ness Cove is wonderful, coming out of the (relative) darkness then directly facing a glorius seascape vista immediately in front of you. Ochre-Red sandstone cliffs meets the cool blue grey sea. The beach, a mixture of that reddish brown interspersed with some limestone from the cliffs further down the coast is very natural - there being no facilities whatsoever. However for our canine friends: this is a doggy delight - enthusiastic hounds of all sizes have so much room to run around; so many balls or stones to chase into the sea. Dog owner or not, this is a great place to visit, something of nature at its wild best.

Homeyards Botanical Gardens

Reviewed By Sprintergirl - Paignton, United Kingdom

Spent an interesting afternoon wandering around the Homeyards Botanical Gardens and enjoying the views out over the estuary towards Teignmouth. Due to recent rains it was a little damp and slippery in parts and care was needed on the steep steps. The hellebores were beautiful and there were narcissus, lavender and bergenias in full bloom, and also a beautiful fragrance which I couldn’t identify. A lovely afternoon - I’d like to come back and see it in every season.
