What to do and see in Sentrum, Eastern Norway: The Best Nightlife

February 9, 2022 Darleen Reid

The 1000-year-old Norwegian capital sits at the head of Oslo Fjord. This stunning setting gives hints of the wild wonders that lie just beyond the city. From taking in visual delights at Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen, to the challenging content within the new Nobel Peace Centre and the Holocoust Center, Oslo offers plenty of food for thought. The Oslo Pass allows free travel on public transport, free parking and many museum and sight admissions.

Sir Winston's Public House

Sir Winston is a classic English-style pub, centrally located on Karl Johan Street 10, right next to Oslo Cathedral. Since the opening in 1969, (hence the photo of the two serious guys, taking their beer seriously on opening date), we have focused on nice atmosphere, great service and a wide selection of drinks. We are open seven days a week, and with a heated outdoor seating you can enjoy a double latte or a beer while watching people passing by on Oslo's main street. In the weekends we have great piano players, so in the evening we turn up the volume, and get the party started.

Great visit to ice bar as Oslo temp was 28° so this was a pleasure to cool off. We was greeted by staff who informed us what to expect and admission prices, so we put our parkas on and gloves and entered bar, much to our surprise we were the only ones in there. We was given a nice tasting fruit flavoured wine drink and barception guy then gave us a full commentary on all ice sculptures and 3D pictures and he was very enthusiastic about Edvard Munch. We were then give complimentary drinks and time to take photos. The bar is reasonably priced and the staff was great , fantastic experience
