Really enjoyed our visit to Holmes Glass. Fantastic display of glass Art work. Met Peter and Andrew Holmes who were only too pleased to stop work and explain the finer points of their craft. The glass pieces are surprisingly affordable considering the skill and artistry that is involved in their creation.. Bought a piece and Peter was happy to make another in my daughters favourite colours.

Haining Loch

Reviewed By bdon257 - Morpeth, United Kingdom

We called in here as we were passing through Selkirk and were very pleased we did. This is a lovely estate with waymarked walks in the grounds including a circular walk around the large lake. The historic former stable block has been well converted into offices for local businesses while still retaining its original exterior features. The magnificent house is an architectural gem and we hope it will be further restored and returned to use. Certainly worth visiting if you are in the nearby area.

I purchased a Lochcarron of Scotland 100% cashmere scarf at the Edinburgh Castle gift shop after looking at numerous other cashmere scarves on the Royal Mile. I didn't come to Selkirk, but I'm writing this review anyway because I really liked the quality of the cashmere of the scarf I bought. I used it during my time in the Highlands, including a very windy day in Skye, and the scarf kept me very warm and it is so soft. It's expensive (102 pounds), but it was worth it!

Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre

Reviewed By Jekr62 - Cape Town, South Africa

We enjoy walking from the entrance of Selkirk (from Galashiels) a 3.7km walk to the Philiphaugh salmon viewing centre and the café. It is wonderful to experience the views onto the hills and walking among the trees along the river. It is a lovely walk since the Flooding project has been completed and one can walk along the constructed footpaths with your family and dogs. It is a chance to enjoy nature and bird lovers enjoy taking photos of the different types of birds. The salmon viewing centre is very informative and has an easy entrance. We enjoy a coffee/tea at the restaurant and then returning to where we left our car. In total a good 7.5km walk. We enjoy this as one of our weekly walks.
