Sedbergh (/ˈsɛdbər/ SED-bər or locally /ˈsɛbər/ SEB-ər) is a small town and civil parish in Cumbria, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies about 10 miles (16 km) east of Kendal and about 10 miles (16 km) north of Kirkby Lonsdale. The town sits just within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sedbergh is at the foot of the Howgill Fells on the north bank of the River Rawthey which joins the River Lune about 2 miles (3 km) below the town.

Quiet an easy walk, lovely views and well worth it to see the ‘Spout’. Dog friendly. Parking however can be an issue if lots of people are visiting at the same time.

I am a Quaker, so visiting here was extra special. It exudes the goodness and power of centuries of worship. That power, of its simplicity, takes your breath away. It’s a time capsule of serenity. To walk to Meeting, from Sedbergh, which I shall do next year, is easy. What a wonderful visit.

The Craftworkshop is a co-operative venture set in the heart of Sedbergh. It is a place to meet, make, share and sell crafts. Come and visit us and you will see a wide variety of crafts, most of them made locally, all of them handmade by members of, or suppliers to, our co-operative. We are a not-for-profit organisation, but we do sell our crafts in order to cover our costs.

This is a lovely shop, a real treasure trove of beautiful handcrafted items. I felt completely spoilt for choice in here, and it's lovely that everything is from the local community. The quality and range is astounding. I eventually chose a beautiful yew wood bowl as a gift for my husband and he loves it! The lady looking after the shop was very friendly too. We'll definitely be back!

An excellent independent shop with a personal touch. Good range of gear from jackets & jumpers to waterproofs & wellies. Stocks a good range of boots including EKU at amazing prices ... at least 25% lower than normal retail. Great KEELA waterproofs. Lovely range of socks. OS maps and Sedbergh soap too! My most recent purchase was a Head torch which I’ve used many times in the last 3 weeks. I’m a very happy repeat customer.

Open almost every day, the Information and Book Centre welcomes visitors to Sedbergh and the Yorkshire Dales. We have detailed local knowledge and a wide range of maps, walk books and information about attractions. We also have some gifts for sale, many with a Sedbergh theme, and half of our space is given over to second-hand books from a range of dealers, as befits Sedbergh's Book Town status.

The staff are so warm and welcoming - they were full of useful information and lots and lots of choice in terms of maps etc to help you decide what to do on your trip
