I found the hotel randomly and had no idea what to expect. But we really loved it. Itterswiller is one of the best villages I have been to in France. The hotel was a unique boutique hotel in a rustic style. The room is cosy, very well decorated, an exceptionally clean and reasonable price. The heater works very well. We received service above and beyond what we would expect. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel to those who want to have wine experience in a local environment.

On the top of a 'hill' is isn't only a nice chateau but also provides a nice overview of the area. It is a great place to enjoy a picknick: buy on your way some nice bread, cheese and meatcuts and together with a bottle of wine you will have a lovely time!

A lovely showroom with a fine choice of crystal glass in a wide range of products. Carafes,Vases,Sets of table grass and much more. Watching the glass blower making the Christmas snow man that now hangs on our Christmas tree along with the other items we bought is a particular memory that will last for years to come. There is also a snack area with Seating available.
The showroom is located at the foot of the'plain incline' a canal boat lift, another attraction to visit.(fee paying)

Dig into some very peculiar history of the Elzas-region. Until 1958, these troglodytes houses were inhabited (no electricity, no running water) ! The buildings on top of the houses were a matches-factory, learn about the hardships of the 19th century when poor parents send their kids to the factory to prevent them from begging. Heartbreaking ! We loved to enter in these little houses and feel how it was a century ago.

We visited recently and were surprised at the lack of organisation, the place itself was virtually deserted! The inclined plain itself is quite impressive and the 'circuit' was pleasant, but there is a distinct lack of information about the history of the place. The commentary was in French and staff visited one (Dutch I think) family to give a personal oversight in German. I understand that you can't necessarily cover all languages, but a leaflet with English translation would have been useful. Similarly with the museum there was little information about the construction, not in any language. I understand that the plain replaced a flight of locks but other than that there was little info. When you compare this with the Falkirk wheel - well, there is no comparison!! The authorities are missing a trick here! With a little more thought and organisation, the place could attract coach loads of visitors all year round.
The saving grace for the day was the wonderful glass shop at the foot of the hill. We could have watched the man creating class masterpieces all day - we bought some wonderful little souvenirs

A very nice garden situated on cliffs above the Grotte Saint Vit chapel. Nice views and well kept. Be prepared for a good 15min walk from the nearest parking spot. Think twice if it is a really hot day.

Situated in a beautiful house dating from 1590, the Museum houses one of the greatest collections of Judaica in the area. The visitors will also discover the way of living in rural Alsace in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Wow, this is probably more of a Palace than a Castle, but still, absolutely beautiful. Didn't get a chance to go into the museum. Remember to walk all around the Chateau because it is more stunning on the canal side (than the town side). Amazing that part of it is a school - wouldn't it be lovely to say you go to school in a castle!
