Discover San Marino, the fifth smallest and arguably the most curious independent country in the world, added to the UNESCO Heritage List in 2008. Meet your guide at a central location to explore the historical heart of San Marino, the oldest republic in Europe. The Unesco historical center of the republic is a living museum and visited by millions of tourists from across the world. Set off to walk along the narrow streets and cobbled alleys, passing through squares and around churches. Visit the Piazza della Libertà, the main square, with its Town Hall and Basilica of St. Marino, and head up to the medieval First Tower, rising from the top of the hill. You will need to climb lots of steps up to the tower, but you’ll be rewarded with an extraordinary panoramic view of the Apennines Mountains and the Adriatic Sea from the top. Despite its small size, San Marino also boasts thousands of stores and boutiques that make shopping here a real pleasure —especially as it’s tax-free.

My guide was a local Sammarinese named Leonardo. The tour was only the old part of the city at the top of the mountain. He clearly knows his stuff and walked me through the entire mountain top city while explaining the history and relevance of each sight that we saw. The church, town hall and the three towers were all part of the tour. I was also able to get the San Marino tourist seal stamped at the local tourist office as well. The tour was 2Hrs long and highly recommended. Of note, the transportation to San Marino is not part of the tour and you will have to make necessary arrangements yourselves as necessary.

I love a good walking tour! It's the first thing I like to do when arriving to town since it gets you oriented to the major history and then gives you ideas of stuff to see.. We packed so much into the tour. The Square, government buildings, sculpture, orthodox church and mosque - wow so cool, and lots of other little things we eyed up to go back and enjoy.. Rate this one an "A"!
