This is such an amazing place just 20 min ride from the city center. Once we arrived, we immediately felt like home. Relaxing family vibe, dozens of carved elephants, authentic thai style wooden houses, delicious coffee and homemade cakes! This place is full of history, surrounded by nature and has super amiable owners to chit chat and get a dive into the Thai culture. Highly recommend!

This camp offers authentic Muay Thai training, you will be surrounded by trainers who are deeply passionate about the art, they have made a name for themselves in the industry, watching them and learning from them makes you understand why Muay Thai is a highly respected form of Martial Arts. They focus on your form and execution and they are very meticulous about it. It’s probably because it bothers them to see if you’re not doing it properly. I have learned so much from the 2weeks I’ve been there. And have met some amazing individuals who shares the same interest in the art. Everyone had such a great sense of humor & simultaneously vicious when deep focus calls for it. The fighters also train alongside the students during the training sessions. Seeing them train is extremely inspiring and motivating! Each trainer have a different style of teaching and also have their own expertise. You will gauge them better once you do the one-on-one with them during the sessions. I finally asked Kru Thailand for my private sessions. He was amazing and his teaching style works best for me, he ignited my passion for this art even more. As with everything else, you get as much as what you give to the training. They put their whole heart and soul into it, make sure you absorb as much as you can, it is something you take with you when you leave. This is the camp I will be going to over and over and over. I highly recommend this camp if you are curious about the art or want to brush up and refine your skills and bump your level up. Santai Gym, kop kun mak ka ????

MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum

MAIIAM is a newly opened private museum of Contemporary Art in Northern Thailand, initiated by Jean Michel Beurdeley and his late wife Patrsi Bunnag, together with their son Eric Bunnag Booth. Built in memory of Eric Bunnag Booth’s Great Great Aunt Chao Chom Iam, a royal consort to King Rama V, the museum houses the family's private collection, gathered together over the last 30 years. Bolstering Chiang Mai’s already vibrant art and cultural scene, MAIIAM enables the cofounders' important collections of Thai and regional contemporary art to be permanently available to the public. The museum offers long-term and temporary exhibitions of visual art, design, and fashion; alongside performances, film screenings, special education programs, lectures and workshops, to engage a wide spectrum of audiences. While MAIIAM is dedicated to bringing together celebrated works of contemporary Asian art, Kampaeng Kaew Restaurant takes a more traditional approach. Chef Tutu, the museums in house culinary expert, prefers to keep it traditional, using fresh, local ingredients to create delicious, authentic Thai food. MAIIAM and KAMPAENG KAEW RESTAURANT are located in the district of Sankamphaeng, twenty minutes from the center of Chiang Mai.

If you are an art lover - especially contemporary art. This gallery should be on your itinerary. The art was provocative and is not limited to contemporary Thai artists. It also includes Southeast Asian Artists who live in the West. It was a wonderful way to spend a half day. In addition, the family who created this Museum has an interesting history in Thailand - [as an aside if you live in Asia or have visited many times - and have seen many temples - seeing contemporary art may also have "added value" -

Thai Silk Village

We took a tuk tuk from our Chang Mai hotel to the Thai Silk Village. Easy trip, well worth the visit to see how silk moths morph into worms, cocoons and spun silk which is woven on traditional looms. Retail shop very nicely laid out and prices were affordable considering all the labor that goes into the hand-made shirts, etc. Many shirts also made by machine, according to sales person on floor.
