What to do and see in Salisbury, England: The Best Things to do Good for Couples

July 29, 2021 Rebbecca Marino

If you saw Chevy Chase's masterpiece European Vacation, you'll recognize Stonehenge's massive formation. (As a citizen of the world, you should recognize Stonehenge anyway.) The prehistoric stone circle is eight miles from Salisbury, and its visitors provide a boost to the local economy. With a history dating back over 5,000 years, there is no shortage of significant places to visit in and around Salisbury. On the "must see" list are Salisbury Cathedral, Longleat and Stourhead gardens (and Stonehenge, of course).

Salisbury, Stonehenge and Sarum Tours

For those visitors to Salisbury either for the day or longer, we offer our "Magical History Tour" to Stonehenge. The Magical History Tour is not just a means of transporting you to Stonehenge but also a journey to explore the very soul of the people who have left such a mark on the landscape and in the psyche of today's visitors. Before reaching the World Heritage Site you will be fully acquainted with the magnitude of the tasks these people undertook. At Old Sarum we stop and admire the fabulous 360 degree views. Originally an Iron-Age Fort, Old Sarum was inhabited by Celts, Romans,Saxons, Vikings and finally Normans. We stop and visit the ruined castle and imagine the chivalrous Knights jousting in the castle grounds, and wenches gossiping by the well....A short drive takes us to Old Harnham Mill close to the spot chosen by John Constable for his iconic painting of Salisbury Cathedral. Set amongst water meadows and away from the City, this is a view seen by too few visitors, which is a pity, because it is simply stunning

I can't speak highly enough of this experience. Surinder and Safia are both so very passionate about the origins of their food and methods. With so many stories to listen to, you come away feeling privileged to have been invited into a special world. I spent a wonderful half day enjoying their workshop and came away with a bounty of goodies which we had made. All of it tasted amazing, so fresh, complex and rich in flavour. I thoroughly recommend Pure Punjabi and for those who can't get to their gorgeous home, the cook-a-long workshops on Zoom are just as much fun, informative and tasty.
