I would recommend this experience to everyone who wants to spend time on a skill in a tranquil part of the world without a doubt. I went and stayed for 3 days in France in September. I was quite nervous as I was travelling alone but Tim picked me up from the airport along with the 2 other women I was doing the workshop with. They were all incredibly friendly, I felt instantly at ease. I spent the 3 days in the most beautiful gite that Tim had just finished building. The detail of the gite was incredible and made the stay wonderful. As for the teaching, Karen was incredibly welcoming. I came with my own ideas and her skills to be able to teach and understand whatever I had in my mind was amazing. All the other techniques were taught perfectly, with patience and enthusiasm. We had a great little group and I had so much fun. I made the most wonderful jewellery which I am still getting complimented on almost everyday. Karen was incredibly honest and down to earth with her teaching and recommendations and because of that I felt like I learnt so much more that I am able to take away and repeat at home. It was a highlight of my year - and I will definitely be back! Thanks Karen and Tim!

Musee Fenaille

This an important museum for the collection of Neolithic menhirs, household utensils and tools alone. Beyond that it has a great small collection of beautiful Romanesques sculpture in wood and stone, and some unusual stained glass fragments. The small Greco Roman collection has some interesting pieces. Then there are the handful of fine August Rodin sculptures of the former lady of the house, Ms Fanaille, who appears to have been quite gorgeous. All this is contained in an interesting medieval palace that has been retrofitted with a modern entrance, gift shop and elevator system that works. I suggest taking the elevator to the 3rd floor, which has the mind blowing menhirs, and then working your way down, by elevator or steps. With the bargain, month long museum pass to this and the Soulages, we visited the Fanaille 3 times in 3 days. As for the Soulages Museum, it has a fine and revelatory exhibition of Le Corbusier's art thru the summer. Who knew? (I was expecting lounge chairs.) Soulages' work, pretty much the entirety of the permanent collection, doesn't do much for me. Although some are intriguing, many just look like Franz Kline with thicker paint.

Rodez is a small city, well preserved with a somber charm. The cathedral dominates the city, not by being located at its top, but by it strong design, ts façade without a portal, by its campanile. Yet, the highest emotion you will feel entering the church, looking at its organ, at the Annunciation in an almost secret angle, at the interior of the portal opposing its organ, Splendid, surprise.entrance

Quite an achievement to show the greatest part of Soulages ' work. Excellent lighting. Another temporary exhibition of Le Corbusier's early works was a bonus.
