Xinyinzhan Hot Spring

Reviewed By herenthere1

This place is about 30 minutes by car from the Sofitel Riverside Hotel. I'm sure a taxi here would not cost too much. You won't find any English spoken at the hot spring, but they will do their best to show you the ropes by pointing and gestures. A day ticket last week cost 118 yuan. There is also hotel accomodation here.
There are lockers provided for your stuff and a separate area to care for valuables if you do not feel the locker is sufficient - I felt the locker was fine. The locker contains your towel and some slip-on rubber shoes. There are clean showers provided for you to wash before and after enjoying the hot spring - they provide everything for you, shampoo, body wash, even a plastic bag for your wet swimwear. It's worth noting that the toilet facilities are of the hole in the floor variety.
I arrived at around 11 on a sunny Saturday morning and there were very few people around. There were numerous hot pools and some cold pools. A couple of which included Waterfalls to sit under. There was not a great range of temperatures in between hot and cold. The water is very clear and it's odourless. The signs are in English and tell you the mineral content and temperature. I often found, though, that the tempertures weren't an accurate guide to whether another pool would turn out to be hotter or cooler than the one I was in.
Many of the pools were closed for cleaning when I arrived, but I think they may have opened when a lot more people arrived in the afternoon. Most of the hot pools are designed to look as natural as possible, giving the appearance of being made of rocks, and many have trees round them and/or a shady roof, There is a road nearby so, sadly, there are some pools where you can hear and smell the traffic, but not in all of them so, overall, this does not spoil the place.
Soft drinks and water are provided for free. There is a restaurant but there are also picnic areas. I also noticed quite a bit of play equipment for children.
My favourite things were the jacuzzi area and the "interesting fish". The jacuzzi area contained 2 pools of swimming size but kneeling depth. One pool is warmer than the other. Within the pool are many different arrangements of underwater jets which are operated by tapping a sensor. There is also a fantastic variety of high pressure showers. I spent ages in this area.
I wasn't sure a would enjoy being nibbled by "interesting fish", but it turned out to be just the most relaxing experience. It costs an extra 28 yuan for an adult entry, but it's worth it. The fish tend to direct their attention to your feet and your hands if you can keep them low and still. It feels like having lots of little bubbles blown at you. I would have sworn I was only in there 30 minutes but when I checked it was over 90 minutes and I'd have stayed longer if I hadn't had a deadline to leave.
I believe there are also other pool with thing like milk added, but I did not visit any of these.
A cautionary note about the power of the sun - I was sure I had kept to the shaded areas but ended up with very burnt shoulders, so take sunblock and use it or go when it's raining.
Overall, I think this is a convenient, relaxing and enjoyable place to spend a day. It was the highlight of this business trip to China.

This is an amazing cave. The cave is deep and is like air-conditioned. However, be careful with the temple. The tour guide tends to lead to to worship, pray, pay, pay and pay. The cave is quite spectacular, and the stone rooster is quite remarkable. it seems visitors need to go to the temple in order to go to the cave. The cave entrance is at the left hand side, a very tiny entrance. It is quite slippery, so wear some good shoes.

Guxiangli Theme Park

Reviewed By KodoDrummer - Yekaterinburg, Russia

Guxiangli Theme Park (aka Hometown Neighbourhood Theme Park) is located beside the Country Garden bus terminal. It is about a 50 minute drive from downtown Guangzhou and 12 minutes from the Mayland Resort Hotel. It is a great theme park. It certainly exceeded my expectations. Going in, I thought that I would be out in less than an hour. To my surprise, I spent more than three hours in the park and I took over a thousand photos and a couple of videos. I would have taken more, but I had used up all my battery power. I uploaded many of the photos and one video to TripAdvisor.
Park highlights which include:
1. Many historic looking buildings (Lingnan Old Buildings), with the majority housing the park’s collection of exhibits and artefacts. These exhibits include: an abacus exhibition; oil lamps; old to ancient rulers (i.e., for measuring); steelyard; old to ancient; kitchenware and food storage; living quarters of the poor and middle class; teapots; antique furniture; antique infant articles; electric products and telephones of yesteryears; an adult-only building containing hundreds of pieces of erotic/adult art, chinaware, and artefacts; antique clothing; antique weapons; antique fans; chopstick exhibition; a very rare and beautiful display of stones which look like various foods; antique porcelain pillows, and much more.
2. An ancestral hall;
3. Numerous beautiful bronze statues spread throughout the park;
4. Various unique, large rocks on display;
5. A 30-minute performance by two members of the Hometown Neighbourhood Military Band. I believe this performance is given about three times a day;
6. A large children’s amusement and play area. This includes bounce cars, swinging pirate ship, mountain rafting, merry-go-round, small train, bumper cars, terror city, a 6D cinema, kangaroo jump, laser chariots, a pool for going into the water to catch fish, walking on a rope bridge, and more.
7. A waterway loaded with what I’ll call large Chinese goldfish (Cryprinus Carpiod). A few people were feed the hundreds which they attracted;
8. Wax displays of ancient Chinese people performing everyday activities;
9. Farm and zoo areas;
10. Many dwarf trees and plants spread throughout the park; and,
11. Numerous handicrafts spread throughout the park which give an indication of the wisdom of our forefathers.
Regular adult admission fee is 90 rmb per person, 38 rmb if you come as a guest of a property owner in the subdivision, and free for those who own property in the subdivision. The 90 rmb price can also be reduced by purchasing the ticket online, but this service is only available in Chinese; thus, get a friend to buy it for you. It is free for those over 66, and a discounted price of 60 rmb for those 60 to 65. I am uploading the entry fare schedule.
