If you go to Killarney a cruise on lough Leanne is a must. The captain is very knowledgeable and is eager to share his stories. Spotting the eagles is a bonus

This place is a real hidden gem in the countryside of county Clare. The owner gave us a business card with the above information and said he just took the business over from his ageing parents. It is a fifteen acre fishing lake with boats available for hire and everything..... I promised the chap that I would write a review for him but his business doesnt seem to be on this......

Doughmore Bay

Reviewed By Burkhard042 - Siegen, Germany

Doughmore Bay is a place hard to find elsewhere in Ireland. Kilometers of sand, each day different and loved by pet holders and their dogs, surfers, beach walkers and sometimes even golfers. A plate gives evidence of a tragedy which happened 1941, when a British Sunderland flying boat had to make a forced landing on the sea You will meet sea gulls, gannets and, if you are lucky, two Border Collies who go for a stroll every morning. When you want to walk the whole bay look for low tide.

Best to do thhis on a sunny day to get the most out of it. To complete the hike up over and down takes around 3 and half hours, can be a bit dangerous bit of climbing involved would advise to bring proper hiking boots or runners. Also bring water and food with you. Once you reach the top the views are amazing if your bringing kids i would advise not to climb fully up over and down as concentration is required. U can bring kids to the lake there thou.

We hired a boat in Banagher for four people, we enjoyed the whole experience. The only thing I did not like was the mattress on the double bed. oh my god a cushion would be better it was like sleeping on the hard floor. A tip.... if your hiring a boat from banagher and you want to dock in portumna for the night make sure you watch the time of the bridge lift or like us you will miss it. you get wise after a few days. Enjoy

Beautiful place to visit and even better when its sunny for some snorkelling to look at the under water life. Beautiful part of Skib. Woupd recommend it to anyone for a walk around, a picnic or a quick dip. There is also an option for a hike right next to the lake with amazing views.
