Salinas Grandes

It took some time to drive to Salinas Grandes from Jujuy, but it is totally worth. The landscape, also along the road, is spectacular! Just expect to drive slowly because of traffic and also altitude. There are little villages along the road, with local food, nice options to stop. July is a busy month, just be prepared.

Pucara de Tilcara

Amazing pre-Inca fortification ruins close to the city of Tilcara.

Reviewed By Triptippers - Portland, United States

This is a huge area that allows you to walk out into a dramatic part of the Tilcara hills. You can sense the history as you walk. We were almost put off by reviewer complaints about the ugly modern pyramid, but don't be. Its a minor moment in the overall experience. Recommend you allocate about 90 minutes. And its a great drive up the road and over the stream bed to get there.

Waterfall Garganta Del Diablo

Reviewed By Travel_Maniac08 - Buenos Aires, Argentina

We left Tilcara with the car and took the road to Garganta del Diablo. Some say you can walk but I recommend taking the car and enjoy the road with many curbs to get to the parking place close to La Garganta. You need to walk down a bit in order to see the garganta. Also you can walk upstream in a small river that takes you to a natural small waterfall. We really enjoy the hike and jumping from one side to the other of the stream.
