We really enjoyed our canyoning trip with Robe Adventures. We had a great time, and felt completely safe the entire time. The folks at Rope Adventures do a great job of talking you through everything while canyoning, and ensure everyone is safe. Canyoning was so much fun, and was a truly unique experience. Also, just the scenery wile on the trip was great. We ended up needing Emanuel to pick us up from our hotel, and notified him via e-mail a few days before our scheduled trip, and it was no problem. Overall, we thought the price was very reasonable given our experience, and would suggest a trip with Rope Adventures to anyone.

Thiago is a genuinely nice guy and runs an excellent company. My family of 3 (11 yo daughter) spent an amazing week with in Terceira and spent 4 days with ComunicAir and the very lovely and knowledgeable guide Sophie. We went on 2 walks one to Santa Barbara and one around pico Alta with visits to lava tunnels and magma chamber/ volcano.
Sophie's knowledge of the flora and fauna of the island has fuelled our daughters interest in natureback home. We also enjoyed a full day jeep tour of the island and a half day cycling experience
Thanks ComunicAir for sharing
Beautiful Terceira with us and also sharing your dislike for the invasive ginger lily!
Missing the Donna Amelia cakes Thiago!
All the best to you and your family and thanks again.

Algar do Carvao

Reviewed By Amanda R - North Miami Beach, Florida

Algar do Carvao is possibly one of the most unique volcano experiences you can have on this planet. The site is only open during certain hours, and a combination ticket will provide you access to another completely explorable dormant lava tube nearby. Upon entering through a tunnel into the side of this dormant extinct volcano, you are able to actually walk through the main tube of the volcano. As you look up, the sun shines through the Boca do Algar or “Mouth of the cave,” and encourages nature to thrive within the volcano’s hollow cavity. The cave has man made stairs built into its mineral deposited walls, and it is a tremendous experience to be able to reach the bottom of the cave, where in the rainy season a pool of bright blue water collects and can be over 45 feet deep. There are several different areas of the cavernous volcano that you can explore, each as exceptional as the next. Exploring the cave took only 30 minutes, but the memory will last a lifetime. We then carried on to the next lava tube attraction that our combination ticket offered us entrance to, called Gruta do Natal, or “Christmas Cave.”
On the way to Gruta do Natal, we came across a sign for “Furnas do Enxofre” and decided to see what it was about. Not even a mile down the road was a park with a walkway built through it, making this excursion even more amazing because it is highly accessible for anyone to enjoy. The walkway allows you to appreciate a relaxing sight-see tour through a small sulfur field. I am told they do not compare to the hot Springs of neighboring island São Miguel, but regardless I found them to be an incredible and unexpected addition to our adventure.
We spent about 15 minutes at the furnas and then continued to Gruta do Natal. There we entered a much smaller cave and explored the areas where lava once flowed through, prior to erupting out of the larger main cavity of Algar do Carvao. The caves are lined with informative plaques, which make this an easy, self-guided, 30-minute tour.

Praia dos Biscoitos

The village Biscoitos has one of several natural lava pools at the Northern Coast of Terceira. The temperatures there are not always just hot, but the entire area of the pools consists of black lava rocks, providing the guests with a wonderful natural solar heating. Many locals are spending time in this place, which has been made accessible with money from the EU, providing stainless steel ladders to climb in the water or concrete platforms to lay in the in the sun. When we were there the place was not packed, but the large parking lot there indicates its popularity. In the area you also see many villas which appear to be holiday homes.

My friends and I booked several different tours with Filipe. We did the 4x4 tour of the entire island, the sunrise photography tour, a whale watching trip, a hike along the cliffs and a wine tour. Every adventure was wonderful. Filipe is very knowledgeable about the plants and animals on the island. The information enhanced our understanding of the culture and beauty that surrounded us daily. Filipe was so accommodating - never complaining about last minute changes or additions to our itinerary. Prior to arriving in Terceira, I was in touch with Filipe several times for assistance in planning the week. He was very helpful and provided great information via email. This was an amazing trip and I feel a good part of the trip's success was due to Filipe.

Vitoria Beach

Reviewed By Barry H - Atlanta, Georgia

There are several black sand Beaches on the island of Terceria. Most are volcanic rock but in many areas they have made swimming "holes" with concrete paths allowing you to swim safely. The island is nice size being able to drive completely around the island in 2-3 hours if you do not stop.
