After a hectic period with the Covid pandemic, a small escape whilst remaining safe has been welcomed coming to Alvor. Sports cafe were very welcoming whilst adhering to social distancing, quick table service and lively atmosphere made sure we had a great time.

Yet again, Hickeys has lived up to its reputation for great reasonably priced drink, great craic and entertainment as provided by the clientele in the great pub that Pat and Dave and the other boys run. Year after year, time after time, night after night it gives you what you want from a holiday! A nice place to meet new people, old friends, have a bit of banter and sing a few songs and be well looked after by Pat and the lads. And it’s the go to bar for watching sport, particularly GAA. At this stage it’s like a friends reunion no matter what week of the year you go back to Hickeys. As Pat says every week is like having old friends come to visit, with new friendships being made, and all this goes to make Hickeys very special. Be prepared for late nights!!! Don’t be afraid to start or join in the sing song, everyone joins in!!! If the RiRa Agus Ruaile Buaile isint for you then there’s the quite upstairs terrace to relax on. Terrific little bar, just up from the pretty harbour in Alvor. Very friendly Irish lady behind the bar. Very quirky decor which we loved. Excellent service, very reasonably priced. A hidden gem. COVID 19 precautions executed to perfection, wiping of tables / spraying of seats etc.

I surfed in Algarve region for 3 months, and this shop was definetely the best of them all. Carlos is super friendly and knowledgeable, he helped me with everything, from choosing equipment to telling me when is the best time to go out surfing. I would recommend this surf shop to anyone who wants to rent or buy anything surf or sup releted.

Chill Out Bar is, as the name suggests, a place to relax, unwind and Chill Out! Andrea & Leonel give a warm welcome to everyone. Famous for fabulous Mega Toasties and huge Combo Platters. A Large Beer is always Only 1 Euro and Spirits only 2 euros. Great occasional fun nights with Karaoke, Live Music etc...... Big Screen for major sports. Guaranteed Good time.

Well what can I say about this place that hasn’t been said in all the other excellent reviews. Yes it serves fantastic caipirinha cocktails, plays awesome music and has a great calm relaxing atmosphere. The staff are excellent - Nauali, her brothers, Jess and the team work very hard to create a great experience for everyone, locals and tourists alike. Extremely good value for money especially on the “ strip” as other bars have inflated prices for local beer, it’s great to see a bar not over charging for a superbock beer. Top tip - get to Bolan Bar before sunset and get sat outside with a cocktail or a black beer ( my favourite ) and watch the world go by, best spot in Alvor.
