Destination Town

We offer coach commentary, guided walking tours and custom itineraries of Port Augusta that take your guests on a journey through time and into the future! Adapted for your group's interests and needs our tours can include the town's remarkable history, inspiring characters, heritage wharf, haunted buildings and striking street art. We also specialise in telling the story of the town's economic transition from coal power generation to what can only be described and a large scale renewable energy boom. Extended group tours can also involve taking your guests to see some of the renewable energy projects in the area. Note- we may be able to arrange an inside tour of Bungala Solar Farm but this is not guaranteed. Sundrop Farms does not allow tours. That said, much can still be seen and explained from the perimeter. Our fascinating, interactive and easy paced tours are presented by award winning local community leader Lisa Lumsden.

Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden

The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden was established in 1993 to research, conserve and promote the wider appreciation of Australia’s arid zone flora. Located on the shores of Upper Spencer Gulf with spectacular views to the ancient Flinders Ranges, the Garden showcases a diverse collection of arid zone habitats in a picturesque setting of more than 250 hectares. As well as its stunning selection of arid zone plants, the garden is also home to more than 100 species of birds, and has a diverse population of repltiles, mammals and insects. It features a children's animal discovery trail, AridSmart display gardens where you can see how to use the plants in you home garden, and a visitor centre, which incorporates the Bluebush Cafe and the AridSmart Gift and Garden Shop. The cafe has mouthwatering menu choices and you can't go past the Quandong Smoothies. The AridSmart Gift and Garden Shop is where you can purchase a piece of the garden to take home. Its range of AridSmart plants will not only reduce your water bills but will bring the beauty of Australia's plants into your garden.

Arid Lands is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit. Many walks, wildlife and birds. There is a fantastic natural playground for children which is fenced and has a covered, seated area. The cafe is great with coffee, cake and light meals. Great gifts in the gift shop and my favourite - the plant shop. Native plants grown for this climate. So much to see and do.

This is a great way of spending a few hours or a day meandering through the many different exhibitions. Allow for several hours if you want to sit and listen to all the stories as some go for over an hour. Don't worry if you don't get the chance to see everything they will give you a "pass out" to use within 12 months.

Hannahville Hotel

We stopped through on a 40+ degree day with 2 young children. The owner was very friendly and provided a basket of bread rolls. The place was spotless. The food arrived quickly with a well presented cook/chef and was lovely. The salad/vegetable bar fully stocked and fresh. We were very comfortable in there! Highly recommend.
