I went there with a friend while passing through Port Augusta
The restaurant was quiet and our service was therefore good so not sure what it is like on a busy night The food was traditional and well cooked and presented The prices were reasonable and the decor very traditional Chinese I would go back again to have a good dose of Chinese food

My 12-year old son chose this place because he wanted prawns with chips. I had low expectations. However, the staff person was exceptionally friendly and had no issues with grilling me a piece of shnapper with no batter. The meals were generous and reasonably priced for a fast food take-out or dine-in place. Very happy with full tummies.

We reviewed places to stay and restaurants on Trip Advisor and decided to both stay and dine at the Standpipe.
The restaurant is in the old character filled hotel. It is clean comfortable and expertly staffed.
The food is fabulous and complimented by an extensive drinks list.
Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. My advice is to book early. It is extremely popular.

We had traveled up Adelaide and we wanted a lunch stop. We were travelling down one of the Main Streets of Port Augusta. We found the A wonderful lunch stop. We found the menu simple and healthy we some lovely specials. I had the quiche with salad and I found this to be a very and delicious meal and with a well tasty coffee. My favourite part of the restaurant was the great service we received. however I did find the tables are a little close together.

Wonderful botanic garden to enjoy the beautiful SA outdoors and weather. We spotted kangaroos, goannas, bearded dragons and numerous birds! An animal discovery trail kept the little ones keen. The childrens' nature playground was a very nice surprise too. Worked up an appetite after completing 3 of the recommended walks. Seems restaurant could do with extra staff as they need to juggle also working in the gift shop. This lead to a long wait to place an order at the counter. The meals are reasonable, with some original and authentic offerings: scones with quandong jam and cream, damper.

Restaurant quality Meals at Hotel Prices. Select from Seafood/Chicken or Beef. Vegetarian and vegan options. Also glutton free options from crumbing to Gravies. Relaxed friendly bar with alfresco dining. Gaming Machines. Great place to relax or meet with friends.
What a let down, very friendly helpful staff. Beautifully deep fried Camembert arrived cold on a cold plate with very cold plum sauce. King George whiting beautifully crumbed arrive on a very cold plate with cool chips. Rump steak medium rare arrive medium and the roughest piece of meat you ever saw. Salad bar so so. Not on my bucket list to return

We stopped based on reviews and were not disappointed- excellent bakery. Sausage rolls I tasted were delicious as were the apple pie taste and custard tarts. My husband had a food orgasm, he is a stickler for a good custard tart! The coffee was good- service not slow- I just like my coffee a lil stronger, otherwise it would of been full star review. Good prices
