Being a retires Motor Mechanic. this visit provided a sentimental journey back 40 years to the cars that I "cut my teeth" on, an extensive selection of cars expertly preserved and maintained for all. Also a large collection of Furphy tank end and memorabilia. Worth the visit.

Yesterday was our first visit to KidsTown. The kids were pretty excited as we drove in the gate to see the cows, and the huge playground. It did say that you had to pay a gold coin entry, and as you walk through the cafe there was a money tin for donations to enter , but there were one or two places that you are able to just walk into the Park without paying , so I wasn't sure if it was a voluntary donation, or if you do actually have to pay. Where I am from, there are a couple of huge adventure Playgrounds, maybe not quite as big as this one but they would be close, but the council pays for them and maintains them, so not 100% sure why you have to pay to get into this one. Anyway, they do also have a miniature train for the kids to ride on, which was $3.50 per person per ride. The playground is spread out well and has just about everything you could think of for a playground including big slides , a maze , swings , lots of climbing equipment, flying fox , equipment that makes you go round and round , and just plenty of space for the kids to run around. The playground is well shaded and in parts is a natural bush setting. There are plenty of chairs right around the park for families to have picnics and birthday parties etc. I would imagine that the money that people pay to get into this park goes into maintaining it. There were a few areas that were closed off, not sure if they were new bits of equipment going in, or if they were replacing old equipment. Parts of this playground definitely look like they need upgrading , you can see that the wooden structures have been there for a really long time and have been worn in the weather and need replacing. All in all a fantastic day and the kids really enjoyed themselves.

Royal Mail Hotel Mooroopna

A late Christmas gathering with Father. He hadn't been, but suggested this as a local possibility. Up from Melbourne, we agreed. Food was really good service was fine. Friendly, chatty, happy waitress. Quiet barman. Made the mistake of asking barman whether Soy or English Breakfast tea were available. "We're not a fancy pub - long black, latte or cappuccino, Liptons tea". Oops. That said, Salt & Pepper Calamari defies the "rule" not to eat seafood at non-coastal restaurants. Ours was superb. Roast chicken was also good. Bottled wine for $17? Brilliant! This is a truly good value Sunday lunch. Bring the family, bring the friends. Just accept they're not "fancy".

A unique attraction throughout the town and Mooroopna these statues are always fun to come across and the Grandkids love looking for and counting them. Great idea and talking point for the local industry. As an aside the Council are also very active on the Christmas promotions with the Mall fully "Santa'd" up and staff out and about putting stickers on the footpaths. Visitors to Shep should certainly round up the cows and enjoy the large country town centre ambiance the Council helps provide.

Visited Riverside Gardens Nursery to have a go at mini golf with my family. Price is very good considering you could be out there for couple of hours. Some of the holes have been recently updated or are in the process of being updated which is good. I recommend sunscreen as the sun can have some bite. Also you can spend some time wandering in the lovely nursery section.

Got a lot of things checked off the list, including the Shepparton art museum, Chocolate apple factory & the Shepparton motor museum, just to name a few.
The 2 ladies we spoke to, were super friendly & knowledgeable.
This is one visitor centre that is definitely popping in to.
Beautiful gifts & souvenirs.....I snuck back today (without hubby) & purchased an amazing decorated cow & grey nomad carry bag!
Again, another fantastic staff member working today.

Shepparton Art Museum

Reviewed By Prozac - Tasmania, Australia

I was so glad I took the advice from the ladies at the Information centre at Shepparton to drop in to SAM (Shepparton Art Museum)....I dropped in towards the end of the day, therefore only the ground floor was open.
I was interested to see many ceramics, some quirky and very colourful.
I was fascinated and fell in love with the Rupert Bunny oils called 'Drying her hair'
I was blown away by the sculpture by Sam Jinks 'WOMAN and CHILD'....the recent reviews on Trip Advisor have called this 'Mother and Child' which is incorrect as it implies it is the mother of the baby.
Woman and child is incredibly life like and exquisitely detailed, I was waiting to see the woman open her eyes, and hand me over the baby to hold, it was a touch macabre!!
I highly recommend this wonderful art museum.
