You visit the scenic Tamarin Waterfalls(away from traditional tourist routes), an area which can only be reached by our 4-wheel drive. Approaching from the South or West you see the pink pigeons, avery rare species. From well hidden view points you see breathtaking views over the Massif Central, the entire South-Eastern part of the island until far down to the wild South coast.

Tamarin Falls

Tamarind falls also known as the 7 cascades is one of the most attractive and captivating waterfalls of Mauritius. Situated on the central plateau near a small village called Henrietta, 7 cascades is well known for its splendid green scenery and valleys. The 7 cascades hiking is a must while visiting Mauritius. We organised our guide Wesley at short notice and he was friendly and efficient straight away meeting us an hour after we called him to start the hike at Henrietta. It’s essential to take a guide on this walk so that you get the local knowledge, don’t get lost and stay safe as you navigate the sometimes tricky and steep terrain. This hike has total wow factor with amazing views as you wind your way down the side of the waterfalls. Take time to enjoy the views. We had a half day and managed to the top of the 5th fall. Would recommend a full day to do it justice and ensure it’s not rushed. The highlights are the amazing views, swimming at the bottom of one of the falls and surviving the steep sections both on the way down and as you climb back up. Wesley was extremely helpful and informative ensuring we stayed safe and helping us get fantastic photos at every opportunity He’s easy to contact on whatts app +230 5718 4966 , highly recommended him.

Curepipe Botanical Garden

Reviewed By GretaduToit - Montagu, South Africa

We recently visited the SSR Botanical Garden in Mauritius. The entrance fee was Rs200 for my daughter and I and we received a map of the garden! Luckily we found a guide and joined a small group and the cost of the guided tour was Rs100. I highly recommend visitors to do so as the garden is quite big. We were entertained by our very witty guide that also spoke a few words in our language, Afrikaans! You can always browse around after the tour which we did! As I am specifically fond of trees I was blown away by the selection of old trees and the history behind it. The guide did a good job by telling us about everything he showed us! Some highlights were the pond with the huge water lilies, the lotus flowers, the tortoises and of course the trees! Our driver we rent for our day trip luckily gave us an umbrella and I strongly recommend an insect repellent !! The visit was most enjoyable and a must see!!

7. Venture

Venture

Hiking le Morne Brabant is about taking the same route of the runaway slaves who were on the quest for freedom. Le Morne Brabant is situated at the extreme southwestern tip of Mauritius. The hike is not physically demanding although part of the trail is exposed to the sun. The hike also includes a few rock climbing areas which can be tackled by both beginner and expert hikers.
