- Take this tour and travel to the edge of the world and time, and back! Orvieto, with its Duomo and astounding array of Medieval and Renaissance religious art, is a sight to behold. - Pitigliano, built into "tuff" (volcanic rock), is known as "Little Jerusalem" after its resemblance to the original. Its historical heritage is intact and yours to discover on a walk around town. - Immerse yourself in the stunning Tuscan and Umbrian backroads. Enjoy typical Tuscan cuisine in a countryside setting, toasting perhaps with a glass of Orvieto DOC Bianco, Rosso Orvietano or Bianco di Pitigliano! Taste the others in a visit to a local winery. - Moving along the 900 foot walkway that leads to the village of Civita di Bagnoregio is like crossing over into a dream. Founded by the Etruscans, this seemingly sequestered village sits, as if on a pedestal, far above the stunning clay hilled valley below.

We booked a wine tour for half a day only the night before and received the confirmation following morning! The driver picked us up at our place in Siena with a very nice and comfortable car. Our driver was Roberto, who spoke very well English and is a very funny and nice guy! He could answer all our questions on Italian cuisine and culture in a very passionate way. The wineries we visited were as authentic as you could imagine and they let us try all their best wines! We had an amazing afternoon and wished we’d booked for the entire day. Wedriveyou.it is highly recommended by us and make sure you ask for Roberto!

If you have been to Rome before & have seen all the sights, this should be your next ‘excursion’. We had a private driver take us to Tivoli where we met our private guide...a Roman history schoolteacher who was filling in for a friend. She was sooo knowledgeable! It was HOT, but there was water along the way. The history of Hadrian (Adrian to the Italians) was mind-boggling!! Amazing how they could build what they did in only 20 years! The second part of the tour was nearby & much more lush & beautiful (see pics). Lunch was on our own. Tour guide had a few recommendations. Loved the one we chose (see my review). I liked that we had time for a leisurely lunch nearby before we met our driver for the trip back to our hotel.

2 Years ago some friends of ours told us about this tour. We did not know much about the Etruscans or Tarquinia - what an experience! The guide picked us up at our hotel in Civitavecchia and we drove to the cute little town of Tarquinia - then out to where the Etruscans were buried in caves underground. There are about 20 different graves that you have to walk down many steps to be able to see - each one holds unique colorful murals. Then we ate a fabulous Italian lunch and then to the Etruscan museum to see all the artifacts that have been discovered. Our guide took us on a tour of the old city in Tarquinia and then back to the hotel late afternoon - very unique excursion that we highly recommend!
