Bahia Bustamante

Bahia Bustamante is a seaside lodge surrounded by 360° of wild nature, located in Patagonia, in an area characterized by its relevant biological biodiversity. Only a few places in the world house such an amount and diversity of seabirds and marine mammals, which is why it has been included in the National Park "Patagonia Austral". Remote and exclusive, with the philosophy of sustainability and preserving the natural habitat, it is ideal for nature lovers. Activities include bird (penguins and more) and sea lion watching, visit to the petrified forest, to the seaweed industry, and to a typical Patagonian ranch with more than 20.000 sheep (where holistic management is applied, aiming to restore Patagonia grasslands) panoramic trekkings, horseback riding and mountain bike. Relaxing and enjoying the most exclusive sandy beaches and crystal-clear water, surrounded by huge red rocks is also possible. It is important for you to know that in Bahia Bustamante we want to preserve the essence of the place and maintain a balance with nature. The old houses which used to belong to the first inhabitants were renovated to receive guests, always taking into account the austerity and simplicity which characterized lifestyle here from the beginning; thus keeping alive the spirit of those who arrived to these lands over 50 years ago. In Bahia Bustamante luxury is the chance to enjoy the vastness of nature which surrounds us. The aim of the experience is to connect with nature and with the authenticity of the village and its inhabitants.

Carol Jones Cabalgatas - Day Tours

If learning about the culture and history of your travel destination is important to you, then partaking in a guided horseback trip with Carol Jones is going to be an unforgettable experience. A person that exudes a warm and caring persona right off the bat, Carol has the makings for an excellent guide. First, her knowledge of the area is in her blood. She is the granddaughter of United States Patagonian founding father, Jarred Jones. A character that ran with the likes of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Grandpa Jones was the beginning of generations of familial bonding with the Patagonian Steppe. Second, the woman knows the area like the back of her hand. She is able to take her guests on amazing adventures into areas that are only seen by her and those she has invited. Her intimacy is immediately apparent in how she flows with the changing topography and chooses a place to rest. Third, as a part of the trip, she and her ranch hands provide a truly authentic “gaucho experience”. You are able to tour her family’s farm, interact with the animals and get involved with the Argentine asado (BBQ), if you like. Carol takes clients on multi-, full- and half-day trips. She is very adept at reading your abilities and level of comfort upon the horse and directs the day to fit the vibe accordingly. Experiencing Patagonia on horseback with Carol is an amazing adventure of animal interaction, historical stories and authentic culture.

Horse riding through Patagonia has always been a dream of mine and my husband and I recently had the opportunity to truly do it in style. We spent our days in the wonderful company of Ariane and truly embraced the ‘Gaucho’ lifestyle. It was incredibly memorable and a highlight of our South America trip to date. Endless days riding though majestic landscapes, eating al fresco on the side of river banks and sleeping in the mountains was very special. Our time in the saddle and #betweentwoears may have left us walking like John Wayne but I have been converted to life on horseback. Ariane was so helpful from the first email to our drop off to the airport. She is a true horse woman and looks after her animals with great care, attention and kindness. I can not recommend this trip enough. Horse riding for all levels and the overnight is great if you really want to cover more ground and get a deeper sense of the landscape.

'm always very skeptical of horseback riding in different countries but this was an amazing experience. I arranged the ride with Yvonne who was unable to join us but her partner Raul was a delight. He has owned the land for many years and is a botanist who knows all the plants of the region and more. He and Diego guided us through their private property near lake Lago and it was absolutely gorgeous. This is a perfect experience for a novice or well seasoned rider. After our two hour ride, viewing many beautiful vistas we were able to sit and talk with Raul and his family over water and cake that was so graciously provided by Yvonne. It was truly a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend spending some time with these excellent people if you are near

We recently went on the 2 hour ride from our Viking Jupiter cruise, it was an outstanding tour from the time we left the ship till the time we returned. The riding tour guides were outstanding in helping with the horses and providing a wonderful narration on the tour regarding the area we rode. The ride was outstanding taking us through beautiful trails in the forest and in the hills surrounding Ushuaia. The tour included pictures by a lake, and ended with wonderful coffee and treats...Would love to come back and do the 4 hour ride
