Excellent views of the surrounding areas, beautiful pieces undergoing restoration displayed to really give a sense of history of the place. Loved walking through the surrounding old town also.

Isola Maggiore

Caught the 'water bus' from Tuoro direct to the island. Very peaceful and felt like stepping into a different pace of life. We ate in a pizzeria overlooking the lake, beautiful views and surprisingly good value for money. It's a steep climb up to the top of the island but worth it for the stunning views if you go on a clear day. We wandered around for a couple of hours exploring some of the historical buildings and ruins before rewarding ourselves with some well earned gelato!

What an enjoyable little town! Very easy to walk and the Palazzo della Corgna is worth the price of admission. Enjoyed the art. Some Picassos that were quite interesting and interesting Etruscan pieces. The town offers a handful or three of restaurants and shops with nice selections of local foods. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Rented a 40hp motor boat here for half a day.
Really great experience! Boat was fun, clean and prices were very competitive.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore the lake by boat! In Italy, no boat license is required for boats under 40hp so anyone can have a go!
Thanks to Acqua Dolce for making our day!

Umbria in Vespa

Reviewed By Jeroen B - Heelsum

For all of you who have had a scooter or moped in your youth, this is really a fun thing to do. Rent a 125 cc Vespa, put your wife on the back seat and scooter around the lake. Like you are 18 again (which is fun if you are 50, like me).
During our vacation in Umbria, we (two families of 4) rented 4 Vespas at Umbria in Vespa, to take a tour around the Lake of Trasimeno. Reservation was made a few days in advance by telephone. We went there on Friday and the welcome (you can
park your car on premise) is warm and in very good English. The scooters are yellow and well maintained. You can drive a scooter when 18+ and with a drivers license of min 1 yr.
We discussed with the staff the best way around the lake and where to lunch. All tips were great.
The trip is appr. 90 kilometers and each is worthwhile. We visited the fort in Castiglione del Lago, drove in the Mountains through Panicale and Paciano, ate ice cream along the lake and had great fun. When in doubt what to do during your holidays in Umbria: rent a scooter.

Azienda Agricola Leuta

Reviewed By Mrmitosis - East Greenbush, New York, United States

My wife and I and our 28 year old daughter and her significant other showed up at the Leuta doorstep around 4PM on a Tuesday afternoon. the owner, Denis Zeni, was just wrapping up a previous tour and tasting--immediately after which he focused his attention on us. After a thorough tour of the small and boutique winery we sat down and tasted 6 of his limited supply wines (4 for 10 euros; 6 for 20--the last two were expensive wines). We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I like wine, and his (from Malbec to Merlot and Sangiovese to Cab Franc--and blends) were of a very high quality. I ended up joining his wine club and look forward to receiving 2 cases per year for the foreseeable future.

Sualzo Beach

Reviewed By GrappaKing - Raleigh, North Carolina

Decided to hit this beach on a Sunday afternoon around 12.30p. Not very crowded and they offer chairs for between 5-10 euro per person (it may depend on your nationality). The beach area is small, but they offer watersport rentals, have a pool, great dining options, open space for volleyball, you name it. We got a decent umbrella near the water and enjoyed the stay. Be ready to inhale cigarette smoke....lots of kids, so maybe not the best option for older generation. Was absolutely packed by 3p. Parking is crowded, you may have to pay <5 euro at a space. Afterwards, we walked to Passignano for a nice Gelato.
