Creation Theatre Company

Think about those books, the ones that you'll always go back to, those moments in life where you think 'that's a bit like that chapter' or 'you're just like that character', those are the stories we love. We don't just want to leave those books on the shelf though, we take them down, hand them around, share them out and bring them to life. All over Oxford we find unusual spaces - these stories aren't set in theatres so we don't put them there. Castles, antique mirror tents, college gardens, bookshops and factories... we'll go wherever the stories take us, and so far we've taken over 500,000 people with us. From the thousands of children who've told classic stories in new ways through our education programme, to our professional actors and directors, you're always most likely to find us lost in a good book. 18 years, 54 shows, half a million audience members aged 5-95...we are Oxford's own Creation Theatre Company.

Creation's Bleak House was a great way to celebrate a birthday, and the highlight of our mini break in Oxford. Great fun, brilliant acting with the cast playing multiple parts and clever use of a limited number of props. Very clever use of space in the bookshop. Music too, what more could we want.

It's a well run comedy night, the sound system is great, and the area is separate to the main pub. Jay and Ash are very friendly and welcoming and work hard at being inclusive with regards to both the acts and audience. All those involved are warm and friendly and funny

We arrange monthly jazz concerts showcasing top level musicians from the UK and beyond with an emphasis on entertainment. Seating is 'cafe style' which we believe offers a less formal 'feel' to the event. Very attractive venue with cheerful staff.who try very hard to please; We came to see "Pinocchio" which was a very lively performance by a very young enthusiastic cast with lots of energy, An enjoyable production. It has a good cafe which provides a range of simple food and caters very well for children. The Orchard centre car park is nearby and is free for the first 2 hours and you just pay for any excess time.

The Chipping Norton Theatre

We are a small but influential theatre, cinema and arts centre in the cotswolds - one of the smallest producing theatres in the country. We welcome over 50,000 people a year through our doors for a mixture of theatre, arthouse cinema, music, comedy, dance and participatory workshops. Hope to see you here soon!

Reviewed By Norton999 - Oxford, United Kingdom

This is a small local little theatre that is staffed mostly by local volunteers. They show films, live telecasts (Opera Ballet etc) ,put on plays, pantomimes and host comedy acts. There are several things on every week. Getting tickets for the headline acts is a bit of a mission but worth it when you do. Its small, old fashioned and intimate and the seating is a bit primitive. The atmosphere for live shows is extremely good and the audience usually seem to have had a good time, The bar is open at the interval and drinks can be taken in to the Auditorium. Do the local pubs for early dinner before, then for a night cap afterwards. Super night out!!!!
