Oshino Hakkai

Due to COVID, hardly any people were roaming around @ 0900 on the weekday. Some serious photographers were there with their tripods & big cameras capturing the Sakura & Mt Fuji. Tranquil & beautiful ponds & trails!! Souvenir shops & a few places to buy food. Parking was close & free.

Oshino Shinobi no Sato

Oshino Shinobi-no-Sato is a Ninja-themed village situated on a hillside overlooking Mt. Fuji in Oshino, Yamanashi Prefecture, a village famous for the Oshino Hakkai ponds. Here you can watch the vivid Ninja shows held daily, or even change into the Ninja attire for a casual disguise. You can also enjoy a stroll in the Japanese garden that welcomes you with a different tone of scenery in each season, as well as meals that feature Soba noodles and Tofu made with the rich water of Oshino.

We stopped here during a bus tour and I wish we had more time to stay because it was truly enjoyable. At the entrance, we were welcomed by the staff who were dressed at ninjas and guided us to our tables. They had more than enough space to welcome large groups so it's great for families. Food was amazing and were very understanding of food restrictions (I'm a celiac). The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking. We were able to see the top of Mount Fuji very clearly and the colors of the leaves were unforgettable. They have a big, beautiful pond with koi fish of all colors too! I will definetly come back next time I'm in Japan.
