Cape Maeda

The best snorkelling spot in Okinawa! Before you head to the cape, make sure to check the sea condition online. This was our 2nd time snorkelling here, the first time was a peak season, there were TOO many swimmers and the cave was so crowded, at the end, we gave up. This time, it was so empty and we were able to spend some time inside the cave, taking photos. It was so fun to snorkel, we brought breads to feed the fish and there were lots of colourful fish, felt like an aquarium!

Nakagusuku Castle Ruins

Nakagusuku Castle is visible evidence of the Ryukyu kingdom and is a perfect reflection of that period of time in Okinawa’s history. The natural rocks and the land surrounding the castle are in perfect harmony with the curving walls, this amazing feat allows us to appreciate the masonry skills of this ancient time.

610 yen from Naha near Tomari Port (roughly 40 minutes) to King Tacos Futenma branch then 10 minutes / 1050 yen by taxi to Nakagusuku Castle (Didi app works to call taxis). Now there's a free golf cart to take you up from the ticket office so you don't need to climb uphill so much. Good way to spend an hour with impressive views of the ocean and the city all around - much nicer & bigger than I'd imagined. 10 min walk to Nakamura Residence (closed Tuesday). A bit of a challenge to get a taxi on the way back so we walked half an hour downhill to a busier area to get one from in front of ナカタライト株式会社. From there it's a 1470 yen / 15-minute ride to American Village.

Nakijin Castle Ruins

Reviewed By Niameow - Canada, null

I planned to visit Nakijin Castle, but intentionally, I did not do much research prior to. When I got to the site, it was mid-February, and most of the cherry blossom were done, but still had some left, so that was still very pretty. The stone works were beautiful, and the view from the site was very beautiful. Although this site does not have a castle itself to look at, it was definitely worth checking it out. If you plan to visit Churami Aquarium or Nago/Kouri area, I'd definitely recommend to make a stop here!

We had the best sashimi EVER! Super fresh, cut in front of your eyes, for a mere 1,000¥ The sellers are adorable, they will have you taste preserves and smile, even if you don’t speak English. If you’re famished, go upstairs for the Japanese food court.
