What to do and see in Ogunquit, Maine (ME): The Best Things to do Good for Kids

December 26, 2021 Margarita Chappel

The motto of the resort town of Ogunquit, Maine, is "beautiful place by the sea," and with three and a half miles of sheltered white sand beaches, the residents are definitely not lying. Take a walk along the Marginal Way, a path that winds along rocky cliffs overlooking the ocean, or explore the town center on the local public transit - an old fashioned trolley. With art galleries, fresh seafood, and the summer stock Ogunquit Playhouse, the town of Ogunquit is a favorite vacation destination.

A scenic 1.5 mile oceanside cliffwalk.

A gorgeous seaside walk on a well paved path that twists and turns its way from Beach Street to end in the picturesque village of Perkins Cove, perhaps one of the prettiest hamlets in Southern Maine. Tiny shops and restaurants wind their way around this small village, each on begging to be explored. Enjoy a succulent lobster roll at one of the dozen restuaranta and watch the boats glide into the cove. Cross the white drawbridge and enjoy the view. Then make your way back onto Marginal Way to enjoy the ocean vistas. A perfect Maine day!

Harbor Candy Shop

What a great little sweet shop! We had to wait outdoors per covid safety, but so worth it. My husband and I went in different directions, meeting up to pay. We each chose some yummy things! We left with chocolate cashew turtles, almond crunch toffee, jars of jellies and salted caramel squares. We could have bought so much more, but were mindful of patrons also waiting for their turn. The smell when you walk in is amazing, staff super friendly. A very nice stop on our trip.
