This is a great circular walk which takes a little over 6 hours covering about 10 miles.We started from the farmers car park at Seathwaite taking in the waterfall of sour milk gill then into Gillercombe valley up onto Green Gable down windy gap and a scramble up to Great Gable coming back via Moses Trod and down to Honister then back to Seathwaite. Its a medium / Hard route so make sure you have the right equipment worth doing on a sunny day for the amazing views.

Who doesn’t visit Cat Bells when visiting Keswick or its surrounding villages. I lovely climb with a lovely view from Newlands or ascend via Little Town to Hause Gate and also visit Maiden Moor or even do a ridge route horse show and descend via Robinson’s for the more experienced walker.

This was our first attempt at climbing this awe inspiring peak. We took the route from Glenridding with a planned figure of eight taking in Striding Edge, the Summit, Swirrals Edge and then skirting Red Tarn to return close to Patterdale and Lanty’s Tarn back to Glenridding. The weather was beautiful and the scenery unsurpassed. I must stress that Striding Edge is a challenge and should not be undertaken lightly. It is a climb where you will be looking for foot and handholds but so worth it. I am not a super fit experienced hiker so if I can manage it then most people can and the sense of achievement is a great incentive to keep going. There are plenty of other routes to the summit of this, the third highest peak in England, so it caters for all abilities. One hiker we met on the descent had undergone a double knee replacement and was putting us all to shame. Give this a go. Check the weather. Take plenty of water and wear the right footwear. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

This Famous Lake District Mountain, has a Unique place in the Hearts of Many Walkers and is in Wainwrights Favourite Lakeland Mountains,for Good reason....it Towers over the Tiny Lakeland village of Coniston... it's rich Mining industry is another Very Good reason to Walk this particular Peak....There are a Number of Routes up, through the Copper Mines Valley, which takes you through the Workings of the Copper Mines, and another Very Good route is Via The Walna Scar Road....it's possible to Walk right from the Village, although this route we Did ( is Very Steep) initially...The Track is well marked and Gently Zig Sags,as it Winds it's way up the Side of the Old Man......passing through the Truly Stunning Scene of the Slate/Mining Workings from Centuries ago ( PLEASE RESPECT THE FACT, THIS IS A HERITAGE SITE AND MANY ARTEFACTS FROM THAT PERIOD OF TIME ARE THERE TO BE SEEN) PLEASE RESPECT THIS AND DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING....Thank you.... as the Path Climbs ,you will pass Many old Shaft Entrances, they are Fascinating to Observe/Photograph, but PLEASE DON'T ENTER, most of the Major Entrances are Sealed off.... They are Extremely Dangerous..... and are not to be Entered.... as you Climb the Track,you will pass very Close to Low Water,one of the Tarns,which Supplied Water to give power to the Crushers,to enable Ore Extraction....The Scene is Breathtaking, as the Clods gently Lapping the Mountain sides, the sun's peeps through the clouds,lighting up the Azzure Blue sky.... the Summit is not far away now,where you will be Greeted by an Amazing Cairngorms,and the Trig point, lays just a few paces behind the main Cairn.... On Clear Days ( Sadly WE DIDN'T GET TO SEE THE VIEWS) on this Occasion, but Superb vistas ,far and Wide, to Grange over Sands ,Towards the Scafells, the Iconic peaks ( Highest in England) there are Exceptional Views of these Mountains from the Old Man.... PLEASE REMEMBER TO ENSURE THAT PROPER FOOTWEAR( WALKING BOOTS) Waterproofs,High Energy Snacks and Drinks....are Essential....And ALWAYS Check the Weather Forecast for the Mountain, the Night before ....Mountain Weather changes ,VERY Quickly......

Me and my family were on a trip to the Lake District and staying in Ambleside, which is a very nice town overall, and most of the time was climbing mountains and such like. However, on our last day, it was raining hard, but we still wanted to do something and this climbing wall had caught our eye. Located above a climbing shop at the bottom of the hill our house was on, it was situated perfectly for a quick rainy walk to the place and the same back. When we got there, my dad, my two sisters and I (my mum stayed at home) were met by our very entertaining and enthusiastic climbing instructor, George. And by George, he was amazing, a perfect balance of help and playful support. After finding the correct size of climbing shoe, which could be rented out at a very reasonable price considering the amount they helped once on the wall, we were immediately taken into the bouldering room, and taught the basics of climbing walls and then took part in challenges. The best thing was, it didn’t matter how good you were as there were challenges that suited everyone. Then we were taken into the impressive climbing wall room, and those walls were high! After a quick briefing of the harnesses and pulley system we were ready to go. There was an easier wall and a harder wall. Me and my dad started on the harder wall (as we were similar weights) and I was climbing while he was belaying (controlling my rope and keeping me from dying). I reached the top first try, but don’t let that fall you, I’ve climbed before and it wasn’t easy by any means! After coming down, George then challenges me to do the wall only using green handholds, and that time the wall beat the man. I just couldn’t do it. But it was very fun to try. Then we all rotated and my dad was climbing while I belayed him. He didn’t do as well as me as he is scared of heights. But when we switched to the easier wall, after some supportive words before he started and some while he was on the wall, meant he did manage to reach the top! He was VERY happy when he came down. As I had done well on the hard wall, George just set me hard challenges on the easier wall and I enjoyed myself immensely just trying to figure out how to beat them. Once the climbing shoes were off and bid fair well to George, we went and had a quick bite in the cafe above the wall, which had a viewing window which allowed an easy view of the wall and those on it, and some parents were sitting up there watching kids of their own doing it, and I found it fun to marvel at those who looked like professionals, jumping up and down the wall with ease. Afterwards, when we got back to the house I collapsed on a chair with aching arms and legs, but very proud of what I’d done. All in all, an excellent experience every wall I attempted, and am looking forward to doing it again next year (hopefully).

Went on the skycoaster with my partner for his birthday treat. I was dreading it but was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed it. The team of guys and girls that strap you in and see you through the experience are lovely and friendly and explain what to do very clearly. Can't reccomend this ride enough. So glad my fella pushed me to try it.

An excellent facility for young, old, experienced or novice climbers. Very friendly atmosphere, staff and other users only too happy to help you figure routes out. The routes are changed regularly so little chance of getting bored with the same climbs. The cafe is cheap and cheerful. I’m a regular visitor, once or twice per week.

Our kids (8 and 10) have been coming here for over a year. The staff are great with them, they give lots of encouragement, work to each child’s strengths, and the teaching is really good. The facilities are excellent - the height & size of the old church building means it’s a great & varied challenge for climbers of all ages & experience. Coffee is great too! Highly recommend.

Tackled skiddaw via little man, the weather was dry, breezy and sunny, but on the peak the wind was horrific driving rain. Luckily the shelter was free and hunkered down for a bite to eat. The views are spectacular from the trig point well worth the effort. The walk down is just as good. A really great hike

This place is fantastic! There are a huge range of activities and trails to explore - bikes to hire, a children's play area, informative staff, basic cafe, Go Ape centre, fabulous pottery and printmaking businesses, art displays, and gorgeous natural attractions. With four hard-to-please London teenagers, it was touch and go as to whether they would be entertained by a day in 'the outdoors' but we chose the orienteering course and they spent a fabulous couple of hours, getting somewhat lost, but then finding their way back. Super that you can bring your dog and let them off-lead. It's a beautiful place with well-marked trails and differing levels of challenge depending on your fitness/time-constraints. Parking isn't cheap (£8 for the day) but it is plentiful. We brought a packed lunch and enjoyed ice-cream/drinks only at the cafe. As in all these places, the food is average and overpriced, but at least there are options if you don't have enough with you! I thoroughly recommend the forest for a great day out (with or without dog and/or children). Had the children not got lost on the orienteering course, we could have done another walk and also a Go Ape adventure.
