Wired 0n 39

Wired on 39 is an art studio based in downtown Yangon, where sculptor and photographer Don Wright makes and sells appealing wire sculptures. The sculptures range from larger than life sized installation art pieces to small table top pieces. Photography tours around Downtown Yangon and across the river to Dala are also run from the gallery. On the Downtown Yangon tour we walk around the most interesting streets in Yangon, visiting markets, mosques, temples, and hidden alley ways where you get the chance to experience life in this amazing city. On the Dala tour, you are driven round on trishaws stopping at markets and villages getting a chance to view and photograph life in rural Myanmar. Suitable for all levels of photographers or those just wanting to view street life in Yangon or visit the relatively untouched rural area of Myanmar. Tips and advice on how to get great travel shots are given as needed.

A peaceful and humbling interaction with the villages that Don has beautifully explored and can guide other travellers through. Impeccable, insightful, gratifying. I highly recommend if you want authentic experiences to take home.

Black Elephant Studio

Reviewed By dhmadm

Veronica from Ukraine fell in love with Lacquerware and she is probably one of the world's most respected lacquerware artists. She has pioneered this social, not for profit business which we must all support. Prices are generally fixed and the money goes to the people she employs and these are poor village and town folks who have a lot of skill but if it wasn't for Black Elephant, they would not have an outlet. Lacquerware in Bagan is dominated by SIX families and there are pitfalls in buying from the standard tourist business that you guide will push you into. Instead, tell them you want to go to Black Elephant and meet Veronica and admire her passion and her fine work which has a genuine international market .This amazingly passionate lady is running a wonderful social enterprise. Do support her! The unique lacquerware you buy will forever remind you of the artistic ability of the Myanmar people channelled so selflessly.

TAW WIN ART GALLERY

Reviewed By Cyndit00 - Houston, United States

I visited several art galleries in Yangon. My favorite was Taw Win. They have 3 galleries in Scott Market. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. The art is really good quality. Prices are reasonable. Some of the artists they represent are very well known. I went one day. After looking at other galleries around town on day 2, I went back and bought more at Taw Win.
